Hello !

Couple of years ago, I owned a .io game website. which received 150k visitors a month and severed 3TB+ bandwidth. That time I hosted that site on shared hosting with Cloudflare.

Now, I gonna launch another similar site. This time not gonna use Cloudflare. Decided to go with another CDN provider.

My question is, Do I need a VPS to host that site (expecting 100k+ visitors a month) or Shared hosting enough since I use CDN ?

Thanks

if the page is html static content, then its fine to use shared hosting,

I remember those scripts with flash games... Should be obsolete by now.

If you are planning on that much traffic your better off going with like a KVM VPS. If you use a shared hosting account you will start to see your site go off line for using more resources than you are given with the account.

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

No one use flash now. It is WebGL game (HTML5)

Can't go wrong with a VPS.
Go with digital ocean or vultr.
I migrated my websites from shared hosting to a $10/month VPS and performance is way better.

How many sites do you host on that VPS? How hard was it to set up?

If you only host one site on a VPS it is really easy as Digital Ocean offers a one-click install for WordPress.

If you want to host multiple sites on one droplet it will become a little more complex but can be easily done via a panel like Webmin.
You should be comfortable with using the command line, but there are tons of tutorials out there that explain everything step by step.
