Do I Have Any Chance To Rank?

Hello,
I've playing with Ahrefs lately and trying to know If I could rank for an specific keyword. I'm quite new in the Seo world.

Most of The websites that are ranking now have a DR of 77,91,56,96. The first result is a website with 25 of DR.

Also, most of these websites have less than 500 backlinks, not spam backlinks but neither super good.

I know this isn't the only think that matters but, if you were me, would you try to do it?

I'm open to suggestions.

What is your budget?
How profitable is the niche?
If you are completely new to SEO I would recommend niching down further (small niche inside your niche that is less competitive, you can expand once your DA increases )or choosing another niche that is less hard to rank

Don't have much budget. Maybe 20 articles/month. Will start with social signals and manual 2.0 websites so you may be right, better to start in a smaller niche.

500 normal/good backlinks are actually pretty huge to be honest. If you are new to SEO, I think it's not best to focus on this project.

Its hard to say from the info you have given us, but its pretty likely that the DR 25 site is using hidden PBNs.

I would probably target easier keywords first if your kinda new to SEO. Check hakko's and holzr guides on keyword research, theyre great. Here on bhw, just search for em.

You should try it, your only costs are the domain hosting, and 20+ articles with a few months wait, and maybe some seo work in between. Not too much to make your first test really. Go full steam ahead.

Just out of curiosity what makes you say that? Is there anything at all from his text that indicates that its a good keyword?

To rank a website you should work on your on page content and optimization.
Keep updating your content.

The keyword is quite specific, about a certain type of diet (e.x: menu keto diet), not in the US market.

BTW, the guy with DR 25 is ranking first for this kw. Above all other domains with DR>60. For a kw that has 100k volume. This page has 163 backlinks, nor of them edu or high DR. How is that possible?

Probably hidden PBNs. OR super good content, super good onpage SEO, and great CTR/Conversion rate/Rankbrain signals. Hidden PBNs is much more likely. Neither will be easy to outrank.

These are good DR, however, you shouldn't think of ranking a particular keyword.

Chances are you'll try to rank for one keyword, and you'll end up with getting indexed for other similar ones.

I suggest you think of your keywords as a keyword cloud, use several keywords and don't focus on ranking only one. Try to write content that "makes sense" and do SEO on it on a holistic level.

SEO a bit like quick brainstorming thinking of other keywords like the main one to get as good results.
when you eventually learn the magic of sub keywords and longtail keywords of the main kw you get good results.
you can use apps to help , like longtailpro.

I have decided to go for a sub niche inside this niche I was talking you about the other day. Then, I will go for the big niche, of course this is a long term project. I'm not expecting to do this at least until late 2020... In this specific niche, it seems easy to rank for long tail keywords so I'll start with that.
I am reading every SEO guide in BHW.
