Hi,

I was looking for expired domains and filtered out some good domains with respect to DA/PA metrics. I decided to buy after a day or two!! But when I checked again before buying those the metrics are down to zero without any backlinks etc like a new domain.

Anyone know what's the reason behind this?

Also if I buy an expired domain with some good DA/PA. Those metrics will stick or again it'll go back down to zero?

Thanks in advance!!

The reason I can think of is because the domain got deleted after expiry. You see, there are two stages before the domain expires and you need to purchase that domain while those two stages are live, which are before getting deleted.

A domain, once expires ... goes into an auction mode. This auction is given a certain time. Here too the metrics of the domain remains intact. However, if the auction is not scucessful, then it goes into a close out mode which means the domain registrar has give a certain grace period for anyone to pick it up before it loses its shine. Even here if no one picks it up then the domain gets into the deletion mode and loses all its historical credibility.

This is based on my understanding. I might not be 100 percent right. So do pls wait for experts to pitch in and spell out the right possibilities. Good luck!

Thank you for replying. But the domains I mentioned was in closeouts and the metrics changed but still they're in closeouts!!

So the deleted domains also comes under closeouts?
