A lot can be learnt from this journey as you are sharing everything in detail.

  • Day: 16 (08/03)
  • Followers: 10200+
  • Total Videos: 30

Changes I made:

1) increasing frequency of posting to 4 times a day (recent TikTok algo changes have caused me to post more, as the system rates content differently than before)
2) had to manually adjust the account because a swarm of Indians started following me, and I don't want my following to be 99.99% Indians only.

How did I approach this?
I started manually following target accounts in US & EU (with high followback ratio, so only recently active in last 24 hours and within target group niche)

I'll continue to do this until my 'follower metrics' look more desirable.

Currently growing at 250-300 followers per day. It's decent, but I'm not satisfied with the results.
I will start looking into monetisation & conversions within the next 14 days for this first account.

On top of that: TikTok is making more and more changes. Although followers didn't matter that much before, it's becoming even more irrelevant.
It's almost going the complete opposite way of IG. Which is.. fascinating really.

Lastly:

I'll be launching a second niche account within the next week.

Great work. May I ask, have you picked up on what the new algorithm changes are on how they rate/score videos?

And also, you say followers and becoming less and less important, how so?

Thanks

I know a thing or 2 about riding the algorithm wave all the way to the PROMISE LAND (printing money while you sleep).

This past month I have seen things in the social media world, specifically on TikTok, I didn't even know were possible.
@memes, @BestViralVidz, @FreeMemesStudios to name a few are growing at ungodly rates. IMO these accounts in particular seem to be favored by the TikTok algorithm over the hundreds of other "popular" meme/non-influencer accounts. I truly have not seen anything like it.

As of this week (@memes) is gaining an unheard of 200,000+ followers daily and trending upwards?? That is not a typo.

Anyone have an idea what these accounts are doing behind the scenes to achieve such insane growth?

Only thing I can think of:
1. They pulled the biggest mcgyver of our generation and literally solved the TikTok algorithm.
2. They blew a TikTok employee behind taco bell.

Both seem logically possible. WTF is going on with the TikTok algorithm?

Cannot apply the same logic to newer accounts versus established accounts.

The average account over 100k if posting optimally and following certain rules brings in over 1k followers a day. The bigger the account, the bigger the score of said account.

Take the 'memes' account in particular. Started real early, their main account is a 'verified account'. Their account score is crazy high. They started before most other accounts started, so all their videos get pushed higher because of it.

The cycle repeats. Social proof attracts social proof. More people see it. More people follow. Only pushing the cycle further.

Both @memes and @bestviralvidz have 'verified main account' behind it. @freememesstudios is growing much more slowly. Their videos have low engagement and low reach. Maybe just a few viral hits. But higher quantity, though. Unsure if linked to a 'verified account'.

If you start a new account, it's harder to gain traction with similar content because
1) there's already a bunch of big accounts doing the same
2) more people have seen it = less new = more saturated = less people watch it

Also, what 'other popular' accounts are you referring to? Can you name a few?

TikTok isn't IG. Every new video gets shown to a) percentage of existing followers and b) random people.

On Instagram, it mainly gets shown to existing followers and then other people. Your following on TikTok is a factor, but just one of many and definitely not the most important factor.

Quick update:

Account #1 reached 10k+ subs in 16 days. Currently at 12k+ subs. However, I'll be not posting on this account anymore.

Main reason: getting this account to 100k and then 1 million will not be nearly as lucrative as getting account #2 or any of the next accounts to 'merely 10k-25k followers' (profit over quantity of followers here)
I'm also not happy with the current subset of followers. It's too wide, too various. It's easier to grow a new account to 10k.

Having revisited my previous monetisation strategy, I realized if could be better used in different ways (which I will not discuss here as it's more of a 'social proof' and 'business proof' strategy, not actual CPA/affiliate monetisation)
And I will be applying similar strategies to 'more niche accounts' with higher upsell products and affiliate services.

Heavily going for "quality audience" over "quantity audience" here.

It can be tough to pull the plug sometimes, but sometimes that's what we must do! Just like with investments, sometimes you've got to take the loss and start over.

Account #2 launched on 09/03/2020

Launched 2nd niche account (in a non-English language, in a country the size of Sweden)
In other words: the target group is significantly smaller, but that's fine. The money upside is much bigger as it's a B2B audience.

Current progress update on this account:

Day 3 (12/03/2020): +2500 followers
Current content strategy: posting 3-4 videos per day
Niche: highly educational content
Content type: original
All other details are similar to the strategy described in OP for account #1.

One slight nuance: the market is way less saturated. I can essentially scoop up ALL the relevant hashtags and get first post.
This will be really lucrative for mid to long term branding.

Account #3 will be launched next week. This account will be US-based.

Account #4 will be launched after that. This account will also be US-based.

1. Are any of these accounts going to be using non-original content?
2. What is the best strategy to follow on this type of accounts?

It seems interesting and I would like to learn more from you experiments.

I wanted to start marketing on tik tok but still didn’t get the chance.

Love your ourney! So interesting to follow :)

I also grew my account to 38k in 2 months. Now however, i want to set up a new account too and have a question on how you set up yours.

1.) Do you set them up with sim cards or without? (just with email)
2.) Do you use real sim cards for the US or where do you buy them? I struggle finding one which also work in Europe

UPDATE

Account #1: set to inactive, not posting anymore (see reasons described above)

Account #2: start date: 09/03/20 (EU country) (currently 13 days old) and at 11.3k followers (I beat my previous account by 5 days) (crazy niche account)

Account #3: just launched today: 23/03/20 (US market only) (going to be another crazy hyperspecific niche account)

2. What is the best strategy to follow on this type of accounts?

Currently all my personal & business accounts are original content and all clients I'm also recommending to create original content.

There's almost as much effort required to find good videos (non-original content), edit/repost & add viral criteria to them as shooting your own original content. + there's no community guideline violations

I did non-original before but imo, it's just not worth the effort / the risk anymore.

No sim, just email. Use a VPN. Should work fine.

So from your experience, how much posts per day works the best?
