Hello BHW,
I am going to start an affiliate program for my product. As an Affiliate marketer, what do you expect from the affiliate program?

  • Good Support for Affiliates
  • Payouts on Time
  • No Lead Scrubbing if not necessary
  • Variety of Payout Options
  • Reasonable Payout with an optional payout bump if the leads are good

Thank you for your response!
What is Lead Scrubbing and Payout bump?

I think the biggest thing that affiliate programs expect is that they want you to send high-quality people to their product.
Not to spam people about their product because then it will make them look bad.
Payment on the first date of every month.

The first thing I would suggest you is to learn the ins and outs of affiliate marketing because judging from your replies I dont think you would be better suited as an advertiser lol
Can you please guide me where I can learn this?

What is Lead Scrubbing and Payout bump?

Lead Scrubbing is, when your affiliate sends you leads that are bogus (for example, wrong contact information or duplicates in the system) - Normally the advertiser do not pay for duplicate or false leads so they "scrub the lead". In the affiliate business there are lots of black sheep that scrub leads just to keep more money to themselves in order to pay the affiliate less comission. So, do not scrub leads, as sooner or later the affiliate will realize that you are scrubbing leads and will stop sending traffic to your program.

When you have an experienced affiliate marketer in your program that sends lots of volume and leads to you, he will often ask you for a payout bump. A payout bump is more money per each lead. That means, say you pay 0.50$ for each lead that the affiliate generates. After 50 leads or so, the affiliate messages you and asks you for a payout bump to maybe 0.60$ or 0.70$ in order to send more volume or test out different bids. Payout bumps are a great motivation for affiliates and will surely keep them in your affiliate program (just make sure the leads are good before giving them a paybump).

Bitcoin payouts.
Any specific reason(s) for Bitcoin payment?

Sounds good!
The affiliate should get a payment if lead made a sale. Irrespective of wheater lead is bogus or legit.
How can bogus leads affect business after the sale?

How do you define good leads or bad leads?
Depending upon conversions?

How can bogus leads affect business after the sale?
Well, it depends on what leads you are offering. Take a LeadGen SOI Offer in Germany for example thats pays 4$ per lead for filling out some information on winning a iPhone 11 or something. If your affiliate is sending 400 leads that day and 30 of them are bogus (duplicates or just fake info) then there is no way to monetize this information, so you are paying the affiliate 120$ for fraudulent leads or fake leads that you cannot do anything with. Thats how it affects businesses. I am not sure what kind of affiliate program you are offering, if its for software or something else, but there will always be a % of fake and fraudulent leads that you have to deal with. How you are going to deal with it, is up to you, if its not a significant number, then you might as well pay the affiliate, but if the fake leads go into the XXX$ then you need to take measurements in order to prevent that from happening, cause you are the one that will lose money on this.

Basically. Good leads are leads with valid information and leads that you can use for monetization (Blast them with eMails, sell them their software, cold calls, etc) - Bad leads are those leads that you cannot monetize because they either have fake information (wrong adress, name, phone number, email, etc) or the information is already in the system.

At least for Initially, I will prefer to pay affiliates on per sale. not on per lead.
What's your views on this?

I don't know, i have no info on what you are trying to sell to your customers. Pay Per Sale can be good, but it will turn off new affiliates and you need to manage how you are gonna deal with the comissions when your affiliate sends you leads and the customer performs a chargeback.I think it's best for you to contact Affiliate Networks that are willing to list your product in their database for affiliates to promote. Then you don't have to worry about recruiting affiliates and all that jazz. You probably have to pay them upfront for a listing or give them a % for each sale that was made through their network but it's more stress-free, if you know what i mean.
