As most IM things, I'm always one step behind. If I was around in the IM space 10-15 years ago I would've dominated and would be soooo rich..

Unfortunately at that time I was preoccupied fucking uphttps://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/a-different-kind-of-success-story-which-hopefully-gives-you-an-extra-push-long-ass-read.1111098/.

Anyway, for those that don't know what Buy Sell Ads is. It's a platform, a middle man to sell and buy ad-space.

Making this case study because there are probably still blogs and YT videos claiming how easy it is to make money at that platform but I'm pretty sure the glory has passed a long time ago.

I already know that the majority of internet visitors have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banner_blindness, however, there must be a reason that platform is still up right?

I always wanted to do some research about buysellads but never had the funds I could miss, now I got a little bit of cash I can play around with and even though I already know I won't break even and probably lose the money, I'm just curious about the analytics. (I love analyzing demo&geo data)

What you've most likely read already and if not, never spend money you can't afford to lose!

So ok, I've bought one hundred THOUSAND impressions ( text for the drama effect but yeah 100k) for $125. I already know there will be a lot of bot clicks, BS and etc, I don't even care, I just want to analyze the shit and do a report about it.

I'm using a clickbank offer. Naturally I checked several things:

  • mainly, is the website mobile responsive ( you would be surprised how many are not)
  • SSL certificate, again, a lot of sites don't have it or their SSL not working and it just breaks trust!
  • landings page: does it have a CTA at the top, middle and bottom
  • does it generally just look good
  • good gravity
  • recurring payments
It has it all. Ofc your offer has to fit the niche. Which seem logical but plenty of people who for example are promoting adult stuff on a chicken coop site, shoes on a cooking site etc :D

Anyway, I got the right offer, on the right site, the right banner, the right landings page however I think that buysellads was once upon a time great but I don't think it's worth it these days.

Out of those 100.000 impressions I only need 3 sales to break even but it would surprise me if that would happen gheghe.

Currently (even though I paid the shite already) the ad is still pending so I will have to get back at you on how it actually goes.

Will let you know when it gets approved and run it a couple days.

This is purely for data analyzing and how certain IM platforms and methods perform in 2020.

TBH I think this platform is dead. I already know it was once great but I dont think it fits in today's technology but will see :)

I use to have ads on my site that I co-owned, and it was a nice side income. Now, I doubt if hardly anyone would pay attention to the ad, and on top of it, I think you have to wait for the owner to approve your new creatives if you change it. Best of luck, and I hope life is going well with you.

They still diden't approve it???

Good ole buysellads :) we need a lot of such threads for banner advertising

Great Case Study.
I once tried them, but they only sent 3 clicks from 10,000 impressions.

what networks do you think work more accurately these days now?

Well, they denied my first attempt because they don't accept eChecks.

So just deposited some cash in the bsa account and applied again so it should be approved within the next 24hours.

Excited to see what happens. I've used banner ads before and it also just didn't work. But they must work for some or they'd just go bust I'm guessing.

My best guess is that they'll die off soon if they aren't dead already. Firefox and Safari already banished third party cookies and Chrome will phase them out soon as well, meaning any advertising company that relies on third party cookies has to innovate real quick.

Yeah, there are also some sites where their spots are constantly sold out so someone is making money. For me this is more data analyzing and playing around with bemob as I will do some advanced CPA soon. On a different forum I'm reading some follow alongs of some people who are still making money with it while they have less experience and budget than me.

The demographic I have an ad on is USA and some Canada but as it got accepted last night for me, it's now night/early morning there. Also not sure if the BSA dashboard is correct. Their statistics shows 2 impressions where Bemob shows 10 visits from the US.

Ahh well, I will just keep an eye out to see what is happening. As already stated, I doubt I make a sale of those 100000k impressions.

This is an interesting journey and if you see some success, I will also buy some ad slot through the website.

So far I'm not impressed with this platform. First they denied my shit due to eCheck. Now I check the publishers website and my ad isn't even rotating, all I see is google ads, send an email and as reply they said they contacted them and it could take up to 48 hours till it gets fixed.

Impressions ey so not clicks and can't say much at this point, only 2 of the 100k impressions are used so far. :D
Yeah, it's pretty common to get No clicks out of 100k impressions.

I used to work with them like 10 years ago, a small 125x125 banner for a month (19,089 imps.) ,got me a CTR of just 0.04% , so thats just 8 clicks , and that was just one campain .
I gave up quick, in my opinion it was wasted money to put into.

Yeah, i just want to check it out one more time with a good optimized product, ad and best fitting site but so far I only get aggregated with them.

The targeted site currently not showing my ad. BSA said they contacted the owner but he hasn't replied so far.

For me it feels very amateurish and I might request a refund and ditch it.

Wow...IF really over 100k and NOT a single sale, that is quite demoralize :(
Its actually more common than you think. Especially when you start out with no data at all.
