You main site where you make money. For example an ecommerce, affiliate site or something to that affect. Money site = Site you're making money of.

Thanks for handling it guys. :)

You might also come across a term "client site" too in relation with PBN. Usually comes from agency owners referring to the website of their client(s) and link-building.

I have a question. I know that it would be good if the PBN were themed from the money site, but if I have a PBN with a general theme, will it still have any effects? Because I have several websites on various topics.

You will lose out on relevancy or it will be lower but power and trust will still be there.

This is how my PBN link rental service works. We always combine topics or clients site and PBN unit when creating post for client's link.

Hi @tiiberius
first i want to say thank you very much for this nice guid.

I have found your Post at the first day when you have posted it, and since this day im building my own PBN.

I have now 24 Domains on my PBN and will grow it till 30, after that i will wait till every blog is at least older than 40 days and only then i will start linking to my Moneysite.

Im in the Health niche.

Now my question is, will this be to dangerous for my Moneysite if every backlink from my PBN comes from the homepage? Im asking because its the health niche....
If yes, than im thinking about the following strategy:

50% Links to Moneysite comes From PBN Homepage
25% Links to Moneysite comes from PBN Innerpages
25% Links to Moneysite comes from PBN Innerpage, but here im thinking to redirect the PBN Homepage to the PBN Innerpage that we can say the PBN Innerpage get all the Juice from the PBN Homepage ( that it doesn't look like a Homepage link but give the same power as one)

Would be very nice if you could answer me.

Thanks a lot!

It';s good to publish at least one piece of relevant content (500+ words ideally) while you wait.

It most likely will.

I used to rank purely with PBN links in the past. Now I mix things up and rarely go over 20% of PBN links. The more links I have, the lower % gets.

Since your total # of links is relatively small, this strategy might work. Those inner PBN links will look like guest posts actually.

Really interesting point here. Can you elaborate on the "lower %" part? Did you find that Google starts becoming suspect of so many homepage links?

Yes, I think they are.

I was not able to reach top 8 for keyword that required more than 20 links.I started to get diminishing results. Alas, I only did this twice so not much data. The point is, proven strategy did not work for me anymore.

Can't imagine keyword requiring 50 links.

Problem is mostly WordPress because you always get the same set of links if you do posts on the homepage.

homepage.com
homepage.com/post-page/
homepage.com/tag/post-page/

Link always comes from this trio which is a big giveaway imo.

"Pure" homepage with stain page would be different and could break the suspicion.

Majestic has a very useful new feature under Backlink Breakdown section showing homepage links.

What is interesting, these are rarely PBNs (as those are hidden).

Shows that homepage links are a real thing even outside of PBNs (which is great news)

Numbers are usually very low though.

I always use method one, occasionally (and very) method 5 if the site lends itself to it (news website or something where there's a logical reason why).

To be honest though, method 1 guys - it's the safest way.

I must concur and it's the same results I've been seeing too. Google now seems to throttle ranks when it sees too many links from the homepage going to a website's inner page (even with a 70-30 ratio). Homepage to Homepage might be OK (for authority building), but Homepage to inner page via PBN just doesn't work well anymore.

For those out there building their PBN, it would be worth considering having your money site link in your PBN article only appearing on the inner page and not on the PBN homepage. You can still have the PBN article linked from the PBN homepage but save the money link for when the Googlebot opens the article itself. Looks for natural and will probably not get you throttled.

@tiiberius please shed some light on this

Yes!

Homepage -> inner page ... is a tricky business these days.

I never actually seen a penalty but definitely diminishing returns.

Then what will be the good strategy to avoid diminishing results?
Inner pages->inner pages and nothing from homepage?

Keep homepage links below 5% of direct backlinks.

Ideally, also keep them below 1% of total backlinks.

@tiiberius: Thanks for all your efforts in clarifying the doubts regarding the PBNs. I have a few questions based on my own research on the topic. I saw a nice discussion on this same thread on building a PBN site vs a normal site and passing the link from its home page to the money site. I'd like to go a bit deeper here.

1. Aren't we leaving a footprint to Google by blocking the PBN site to all the Non-Google bots via our robot.txt?
2. If we are to build a quality site (WordPress, great theme, logo, terms, etc.) and publish quality content (at least a couple of niche-specific articles running to 500-1K words) per month), what are the disadvantages of maintaining them as a regular blog over a PBN site? Is it only because they can be found by services such as ahref, majectic and moz, or are there more reasons to know of?
3. Related to the above, if we are making them PBN sites, should we refrain from using Google analytics, GSC, etc. even if they are connected to site-specific Google account (e.g PBNsite1 is connected to [email protected])?
4. You mentioned your mix is about 12K words on the home page and upto 30 OBLs which work well for PBN sites. At the same time, you said, it's always good to only link once to the money site while passing a few links to the authority sites from the specific niche. What about the rest of the links for a someone who's starting the PBN stuff for the first time. Should I consider selling those links to others from the same niche and monetize and is it possible to sell PBN links without revealing the actual site?

Sorry, if the questions are a bit long, but thanks in advance for all your time and the efforts to share your learnings with the community.
