Making Money with Ad & Traffic Arbitrage

OP is a member here since 2015 and don't know what is adsense arbitrage, don't know how to seo ? I'm confused man. anyway this thread motivate me again to promote my blogger site promote on SM. If I was you I won't depend on FB only. thanks for the thread. good luck!

thanks and good luck!

Where do you guys buy your traffic? I've been sending traffic to customer, of which some are traffic arbitragers, my team can give you some insights and help if you need on our website. Not all traffic works for Adsense, you need to blend it in with other traffic.

I don't think you sell traffic that is safe for AdSense.
The site claims to sell BHW traffic, but I doubt any real banner would be placed on BHW.

I see that there are viral sites earning a lot from this with paginated posts from 12-20 items. Let’s say I increase my list to really high, will it be better for me or will it scare website visitors away?

I spent the last few days writing this post and I’m at a list of 40. I will start running ads on Monday to test. (These are high quality content posts) I’m hoping it’ll help increase my earnings with a lot of info on each list.

Increasing page views also increase paid ad impressions, therefore increases revenue.
The important point here ensures that content is distributed and structured so most of the users don't bounce and reach to the end.
40 seems like an extremely long content to me, however, with quizzes and Pokemon niche I was able to get over 50 page views per visit as there are over 100 pokemons, therefore users expect content to be very long.

Hey man,
I read both threads, honestly you shared a lot of good stuff, Thank you for doing this.
I have two questions:
1- Do the ad networks including Adsense have access to the users/traffic referrer? If I send traffic to my site would they know from where this traffic came to my site?
2- If I have a way to incentivize the traffic to go to my site and browse certain pages, would this be a problem for the ad networks including AdSense? is this allowed?

In both cases, the traffic would be legit and absolutely not fake.

Thanks

Hi..thanks for this great thread.
I have a question for you..Do you think i can do traffic arbitrage for my website that i monetize with Ezoic?

Thanks.

If you don't hide the referrers, they can definitely see it. Use something like nullreferer (google it) and it'll be better. But even that doesn't guarantee you that they will never see all your sources.

1. They will. Don't send traffic, promote with ads instead.
2. This is not allowed, not right away, but this would eventually become a problem with time.

Is there any plugin that one can use to set up adsense and medi, net ads and whichever pays higher it displays it, site is not eligible for ezoic yet.

There is no plugin, but there are many ad servers, including most popular and free Google Ad Manager (GAM).

Yes, you can - if you have Ezoic, then they do it for you already.

Most likely this will speed up account ban.

1- what difference does it make? Good Traffic is good traffic, it shouldn't matter how they came to the site as long as they are legit and have interest in the content. Am I right in here?

2-Care to elaborate?
Why would this be a problem? For example, I have a game that has points, I offer my users points for going to my site and do few quizzes, what is the problem in doing this from the point view of the ads networks?

Thanks

1. Promoting/Advertising the site is a different process than just sending traffic.
When you promote/advertise this means that you have an actual ad or a post with the link to your source - this is allowed.
Sending traffic, e.g. getting traffic to the site out of nowhere or without traceable source meaning the traffic is bot, untargeted, and tricked to land on the site (example: pop ads).

2. You can promote your site, but you cannot pay users to go to your site and perform a specific action.
The problem with incentive traffic is that this traffic won't be any use for the ad network. If the user is paid to go through 10 pages he most likely won't engage with the ads, this means that the ad network will have to pay you for the ad impressions, but they won't make any money back. In other words, why would someone pay for the ad that doesn't work, they'll just blacklist your site.

I couldn't have explained it better. Frankly, no one in the industry wants to deal with this kind of traffic for so many reasons I shouldn't even start listing.
And honestly, if you are working as a publisher with someone and you're hiding your referrers, there's clearly something fishy in the middle and anyone would investigate that. You will be asked to send proof of your traffic source or be banned for suspicion of fraud.

Okay I get what you mean,
But why would the traffic be of no use if the ad shown is based on the browsing history of the user, relevant to the user = more interest.
Also just to let you know, I'm not telling my users to go and click on the ads, I'm just telling them to visit the site and go finish up a quiz, the impression I get is a side effect only, the adnetworks can't or even bothered to know what I'm doing.

Perhaps you have never seen the plenty of mobile apps that offer points to users by letting them watch videos or ads, using admob which is the same as adsense but for mobile, and I'm pretty sure you understand how strict adsense is.
So why they did allow this to happen if the traffic is of no use?!

Sorry but this BS, incentive traffic is huge, you should look at networks like ogads for an example.
Maybe there is a misunderstanding, if you mean by incentive traffic is telling users to click on ads on purpose then yes I agree this is bad. But I'm not, I'm just promoting my site in my own way. I'm telling my users to go to my site and the ads will be shown based on their interest, if they are interested in the ads they will click if not they will ignore it, how this is different than a normal user behavior?

BTW I'm not planning on hiding the referrers but just asked if they would know which was a new information for me, don't judge based on a very little information.

If OGAds are accepting incentive traffic and paying you conversions with that.. that's fine. A lot of affiliate networks don't. I was talking about AdNetworks helping you monetize this traffic, paying you a rate for it.

Quick google return on the subject:
"Incentive traffic results when visitors to a website receive some form of compensation or incentive for visiting the site. For instance, Incent traffic happens when a site offers visitors incentives (like cash) to click through to various other sites."

This is typically what we refer to when we are talking about 'incentive' traffic.

Okay I get what you mean,

In the scenario where you pay for a specific action e.g. reach the last page of the quiz or go through an article etc, the user will not be paid if he clicks on the ad and leaves the site. This will mean that he did not perform a paid action therefore he won't be paid, therefore the user most likely will not engage with the ad - why would he?

As an advertiser who pays for an impression, I would never want to deal with a publisher like that, and most likely I would report and request the site to be blacklisted at least for my ads. The chance of getting revenue for advertisers from incentive traffic is very low, it's a scam.

Perhaps you have never seen the plenty of mobile apps that offer points to users by letting them watch videos or ads, using admob which is the same as adsense but for mobile, and I'm pretty sure you understand how strict adsense is.
So why they did allow this to happen if the traffic is of no use?!

Traffic arbitrage is what I do for living, not just as a publisher, but also from an analytical and technical side, and I work as ad exchange too, so I do believe I know a thing or two about how things work or at least what ad networks look for and what they stay away from.

The apps you're talking about make the user see ads in order to get something within the app, they don't pay you to watch ads.
So, if you want to have more 'virtual money' (or whatever the game offers) you can either buy them for real money or you can watch an ad and earn points (that you can use within the ga,e) that way. You don't pay 10¢ to show 15¢ worth of ads to profit 5¢, you show an ad and you don't pay any real money for it - that's different.

The chance to get the user involved with the ad is higher than paying users to complete 10 pages on your site.

Sorry but this BS, incentive traffic is huge, you should look at networks like ogads for an example.

OGads is a CPA ad network, they provide deals and pay you for actions, that is very different from AdSense.
I am also sure that OGads would also require genuine actions and won't be paying for dummy 'emails/submissions' whatever the action is.

Normal user behavior is when user made a choice to go to your site without being rewarded.
BHW does not reward you for the visit, you made a decision you want to come here and respond to a post. It's different from you paid to visit the site and perform an action.

BTW I'm not planning on hiding the referrers but just asked if they would know which was a new information for me, don't judge based on a very little information.

They will, and there's anything that doesn't look right or just look slightly suspicious its way faster, easier, and less risky to ban such site, then speding time trying to find out what is happening.

I feel like I should make a few points clear first,
1- I don't claim to be an expert in this field, I do have experience in other related IM stuff, so what I wrote or will write in here could be wrong, also as I told you I read both threads and you shared a ton of knowledge that shows you have a ton of experience in this niche and you have my respect for that and I'm not here to argue you with you about that. Now having said that, I do believe a person could miss an angle, especially if other people have experience in a related niche, so I do hope we keep an open mind here.
2- I have never said that I will pay my users with money directly for completing an action on the site ( also this is silly and hard to do/track), what I said was I will reward them, I do have an html game which has virtual points system, which I'm planning on using to reward users if they complete an action.

Okay, now I will focus on one point so we don't get distracted that I feel I don't get it completely:

How this:

In the scenario where you pay for a specific action e.g. reach the last page of the quiz or go through an article etc, the user will not be paid if he clicks on the ad and leaves the site. This will mean that he did not perform a paid action therefore he won't be paid, therefore the user most likely will not engage with the ad - why would he?

Is different than this:

The apps you're talking about make the user see ads in order to get something within the app, they don't pay you to watch ads.
So, if you want to have more 'virtual money' (or whatever the game offers) you can either buy them for real money or you can watch an ad and earn points (that you can use within the ga,e) that way. The chance to get the user involved with the ad is higher than paying users to complete 10 pages on your site.

Both are rewards, both will promise the user something after completing an action, so why one is allowed and the other is not?
There shouldn't be any difference between real money and virtual money, in this case, both are the rewards in this case.

User A = I want money = do action = gets paid
User B = I want points = do action = gets points

so why the user will not engage with ads in the first one and will engage in the second one?

Really interested to hear your thoughts as this is not clear for me.
Thanks

It's not my opinion but how things work in the industry.

In your example, User A will not engage with the ads, even if the ad is targeted to his specific interest. If he will, he will not get paid as he won't complete the action. Engage with ad = no reward. The User B wants to play game/access site/or whatever, he is not paid for any action, therefore engaging with ad or not engaging with the ad will still be rewarded by points. Even if he clicked on the ad, the user can go back to the page and continue whatever he was doing.

Ask yourself this: 'If I was an advertiser - would I want to show ads to the users who care about my product/service/etc or would I want to just waste money by showing them with no result?'
