Till last month it was 30%. This month it's 5% lol. Big drop. But that's cuz my friend is bidding for me, he's still learning.Hey bro, out of curiosity, what's your proposal/deal ratio?
Hi
Re 'too much competition' etc.
i have never use Upwork before but it is in my plan to try. Im good at what I do and have a niche idea.
If I dont get any gigs, so what? If i do make only $50 that will fund something else.
As others have said, you have to start somewhere. We leaen most from doing, not reading.
Good luck![]()
I agree. I just want to know is it worthy to get into freelance. I mean, I could learn php, java script, by 6 months. I could create portfolio, nice projects. But I'm not sure if it worthy. I see huge competition on freelance like UpWork. And only people who can represent themselves will be able to receive offers from clients. You can be a cool tech guy, but it you can't sell yourself you will not earn money. Or if you can't find the marketer. I think top freelancers has their own companies, so they will always get offers. They spent a lot of money on ads.
I shied away for years from Upwork because all anyone ever says about it is that there's too much competition. A few months ago I bit the bullet and started applying for jobs and it's actually been fantastic - my rate is at $20/hour and it's for a really broad service (general content writing). You really just need to submit killer proposals (which I assume is how OP is making so much money with this)
A lot of people never try certain jobs/methods/online money making ventures because all anyone does is talk bad about it (ie. everyone bashing Upwork for the competition) but then there are a bunch of other people making tons of money on it because they're actually trying it rather than talking about it.
case in point, just give Upwork a try, make sure to get only 5 star ratings, have a great profile and spend a lot of time on the proposals for jobs that you think you can do. good luck

Yes, this is exactly how I'm gettin the jobs. I spend 20-30 minutes, sometimes upto an hour to craft a proposal.
There is no magic to get jobs on Upwork, but to send out well written proposals, and make sure you have an amazing profile.
Look at all the 50+ proposals you have submitted. If all of them are the same, from a single copy-paste template, then it means you've been doing it all wrong since the beginning. Every proposal should be different and customized to the job you're applying to. The niche matters too. Also the timing (how soon / how late you are applying after the job is posted on Upwork).I have applied to some 50+ jobs but not a single reply from any buyer, what I am doing wrong?
