I shied away for years from Upwork because all anyone ever says about it is that there's too much competition. A few months ago I bit the bullet and started applying for jobs and it's actually been fantastic - my rate is at $20/hour and it's for a really broad service (general content writing). You really just need to submit killer proposals (which I assume is how OP is making so much money with this)

A lot of people never try certain jobs/methods/online money making ventures because all anyone does is talk bad about it (ie. everyone bashing Upwork for the competition) but then there are a bunch of other people making tons of money on it because they're actually trying it rather than talking about it.

case in point, just give Upwork a try, make sure to get only 5 star ratings, have a great profile and spend a lot of time on the proposals for jobs that you think you can do. good luck

Yes, this is exactly how I'm gettin the jobs. I spend 20-30 minutes, sometimes upto an hour to craft a proposal.

There is no magic to get jobs on Upwork, but to send out well written proposals, and make sure you have an amazing profile.

That's bs, mate. Like every other business you need to invest. Buy 20 reviews, you lose 20% of those money then after you get your first project/ first projects, you'll reinvest all the profit in exposure, and after that you'll get more and more projects. You cannot expect to learn a skill and business owners come at you. If you don't have the initial budget, get a job, save 1, 2, 3 months and the go all in.

I know it depends on one's ability and skills. But, can you show a sample proposal or some insight on what should be included with while sending a proposal?

Fantasic journey! Following. Also, if you need someone who can do tech tasks (Linux, server admin, etc), please let me know. I know I'm new to the forum, but I have over 15 years of experience in managing Linux servers at a hosting company. I'm happy to do free trial jobs to prove my worth. Thanks

Look at all the 50+ proposals you have submitted. If all of them are the same, from a single copy-paste template, then it means you've been doing it all wrong since the beginning. Every proposal should be different and customized to the job you're applying to. The niche matters too. Also the timing (how soon / how late you are applying after the job is posted on Upwork).

Can you explain the nature of lead gen projects? What are you exactly providing to the client?
