Simple question about SEO and URL structure

My competitor has several "/child" pages under
competitor.com/dallas-plumber

Most of them are pretty useless to a visitor of his website, like

• competitor.com/dallas-plumber/my-logo
• test.competitor.com/dallas-plumber
• competitor.com/dallas-plumber/hire-dallas-plumber (8 words on the page and a button 'Check Pricing')

I'm wondering if, all things equal, if fattening the branch URL
with /dallas-plumber/twigs
in the directory helps SEO for the page?

Does Google care at all about the URL directory structure /aaah/aah/aah
OR does Google care just about inner linking?

You want to rank this page: site.com/dallas-plumber​

Would adding sub pages / child pages strengthen that URL?

site.com/dallas-plumber/logo
site.com/dallas-plumber/toilets-in-texas
site.com/dallas-plumber/hiring-a-plumber
site.com/dallas-plumber/getting-your-sack-waxed

If a URL has /sub-pages (just like a domain has many /child and /child/baby pages under it), does that tell Google that the parent page is important?

If you operate in more cities than in Dallas, or keep you the option, I would definitely prefer variant B.

Whatever you chose, if you make sure you have strong internal linking, that's what matters the most.

Directory structure per se offers no SEO value, as long as you keep them logical and relevant to the page, that's good enough. But a solid site architecture should deliver great internal linking, that's what counts.

I'm not sure what you mean by "variant B."
Is that where you do NOT create /child/pages?
For example,
