I have just tried your scraping tool out.
As already mentioned .json file is not very userfriendly, but you can open it with normal Notepad.
Afterwards copy all the data, enter it in excel, split the complete result with comma and finally transpose to have in a row.
A gross oversight by us on this first public release, I completely agree. An update to my comments in my previous reply, our devs have just deployed csv export to staging today and will hopefully be pushed to production today or Monday (no later than Wednesday next week).
Quality seems okay, but you get maximum 100 answer per keyword.
We hadn't expected most users to need more than 100 as our sights were on Google SERP tracking customers. However, in the BHW community I do understand that having as many results as possible for other data uses is very important. I will get this added to our
roadmap and prioritized accordingly. Thank you for the feedback!
The query looks like this:
{"query":"keyword", location:"United States"}
In the dashboard you have no possibility to change the location. I have tried foreign language and so the results are not really useful.
We documented and will have the foreign language support added to our roadmap soon. If you wouldn't mind elaborating more on the exact foreign features you need, that will help tremendously. As I see it, you and the previous user above desire:
- Inputted keywords accept encoded foreign letters (umlaut, etc)
- The ability to set the geolocation to search on Google (by city, state, and country). Typically this is added to Google searches using the 'uule' parameter, but for the UI would you like it to just be a dropdown/input box that allows you to select which country to scrape in? Or do you desire the city and state as well? In any case, we'll get it added to our roadmap depending on your preference - thank you again for the valuable feedback here.
1) Your Robot Captcha during sign up must not be solved ;-)
2) Scraping balance 5000 credits means 5000 x 100 results, this was not clear for me. I thought i will get 5000 results. So maybe little improvement.
1. Yikes, a blunder in turning off the captcha during QA! Thank you!
2. Great point here. The scraping credits are equivalent to one single page loaded to be scraped. In the case of Google, that was equivalent to a single search with the num=100 parameter. How would you propose we can make this clearer to the user? One idea is maybe just additional wording on the project submission page to denote that 1 scraping credit will yield 100 results?
Thank you again.
