They've done a similar program two years ago with businesses showing up in GMB under fake addresses, fake reviews, and bad service. They even threatened to take it to the government. Looks like nothing has changed since then.

Classic fake-listing/lead-gen scam pattern. Google's struggled with fake address spam in local service niches for years and it keeps resurfacing.

They covered this a couple of years ago too—fake GMB listings, fake reviews, and poor service. Doesn't seem like much has changed.
