How to find Poor and Ugly websites using only Google??

Hello BHW!

We all know that Google is the largest SE as of today.

So I want to use it for my web design business.

Can you please suggest some tips and tricks, maybe some rare methods in finding POOR or UGLY websites.

What my plan is to find this kind of website and redesign in and offer the new website to them. I read a lot from this forum that with this kind of method, the conversion rate is higher than cold emailing the potential clients upfront without redesigning their websites.

What I have tried is "keyword + city", then check the maps one by one,

Another is searching the same keyword and city in the facebook search box. Then checking again their about page and look for their website.

And the last one is searching [keyword] + [city] + "business.site". In this method I saw a lot of websites that used the same template for their website. But I think this is just for free hosting offered by Google.

Do you have any other methods or maybe you can help me improve these methods?

The reason someone has an ugly website is usually because they aren't seeking sources for better website design, nor understand the benefits of it. There is a variety of website builders and templates available instantly, all someone has to do is Google it. If someone is unwilling to do even that, what makes you think they would be a viable customer?

I think you should start searching manually, search for business and look on their website

One possibility of the ugly website is they just built it by themselves and grab a quick template of it. One reason of it is they don't have TIME to do these things instead they focus on their services.

This is when my service can ba good use for them. So the best pitch is to show them the "already made" website of "theirs". Also, I want to have a meeting with them personally. (For starters, I am focusing within my local reach). In the meeting, I want to discuss the importance of website, of good of web design and how the website can help their business grow.

I think that is still a good shot to make.

I think I figured out the terminologies that will best define my problem.

What I want is how to use the Search Operators of Google and how to combine it with keywords to get the most of it.

It would also be a great idea if you could incorporate some testimonials with results from past clients (even if you have to obtain them with a few free projects). Many people emote with visuals, but a lot of business folks prefer to deal with numbers, e.g. "Yeah, this client achieved 23% more sales in 90 days after the redesign, etc."

Gonna try this one. Also, I plan on making their "new" website under my subdomain. Thinking that they will also visit my main domain and see my testimonials there.

Because I'm gonna reach out to these potential clients through cold email. So I don't want my email to be so long and so tiring. I want it to be short and direct to the point and hopefully, land a meeting with them.

You should probably use a scraper and look for <table> based designs. Also scrape for old versions of CSS and jquery which would indicate sloppy front end. Otherwise no software can tell you what's ugly or not.

Is there a way to search for the old versions of CSS and jquery? I mean do they have common url like "business.site" or do they also have the promotion like "powered by wix".

Haha, its just I want to do my job faster with the use of templates and themes.

But I know how to build websites from scratch using codes. But again, I don't want to waste my time on coding just to prove that I know how to do it haha.

Mainly I want to focus on Static websites. This type suits my time.

I don't know a dork for this. I don't think you can search for meta-info on Google.

Your use case is a bit contrived. You'll likely need to combine multiple solutions: a custom scraper + google scraper and perhaps other functionality to get this to work.

Use scrapebox to search local websites, then use their mobile responsive test plugin. Generally sites that aren't mobile friendly, tend to be outdated, and ugly.
