[Advice Please] <H1> On Page vs Meta Title - Audit Result is Confusing

is <H1> header tag 'on page' (content) OK in addition to page Meta Title (also <H1>)?

This query relates to any page on (eCommerce) website - in this case specifically index (home) page. I am getting confusing audit results from SEOSiteCheckUp...dotcom vs Bing Webmaster Tools.

Home page has meta title and meta description attributed - ( as you are no doubt aware meta title is the one that shows in browser, the one you hope Google will use in search results) - I also added a <H1> header at the top of the page content thinking that this was normal (have been doing this for years). Bing told me otherwise with an error report saying I had two H1 tags - every man and his dog says only 1 is permitted. So I changed the on page <H1> to a <H2> and now SEOSiteCheckUp ...dotcom is saying not having a <H1> on page is not good.

So need advice - what is correct?

you don't need to use <meta title> you can use only <title> for google.

The title tag is not a <h1> tag.
The <h1> tag will usually be used by google as a title if you didn’t specify it yourself.
You don’t have to use either, but it’s generally a good idea SEO wise.

But yeah.. both can be used together with no problem

I don't know how about in other wordpress themes. But in mine title is H1.
Corrwct me if I am wrong. But if I do inspwct elemement on my page. It shows up as h1

Page 'title' can be either <TITLE> tag or <H1> tag, they are one in the same when used as page title - the question is whether it is OK to use a <H1> tag in content on the page itself??

can you check https://www.seoreviewtools.com/html-headings-checker/ to see how many H1 tags it shows? i dont think i have ever seen any title being shown as H1 tag. are you sure?!!!?!?

thanks for your response fb3003 - yes <title> tag is the same as <h1> tag (for page title, not a heading on a page) - here is one reference from google search 'title tag vs h1 tag' ... https://www.v9digital.com/insights/h1-headers-title-tags-seo/ ..... seoreviewtools ...dotcom shows exactly the same ... "multiple H1 headings on page"

So I will use a <H1> header on page in content and of course the meta title of the page remains as a <H1> - so technically 2 per page and will TOTALLY IGNORE all of the SEO audit sites that show 2 <H1> tags as a problem .... because Google says it is OK (as per video above)

or you don't even have to use H1 tag. one of the top online casino sites does not have H1 tag https://www.777.com
