Expired domain trick?

I have been purchasing and tucking away a few domains now. I haven't been scraping or anything like that, just looking for domains that interest me.

I found that by searching city names (US based for me) I have found several domains that actually have great metrics (using Ahrefs to research)

For example search Denver and you'll see results like this.

Of course you'll have to do your research but I found several domains that had great backlink profiles from high priority sites NPR, local magazines so and so forth.

I'm trying a few out as 301 re-directs! I guess we will see what happens....

Sounds like a pretty cool trick and I see how that could work. Local business that might have dropped their domains for a million reasons. I'll see what treasures I can dig up later this weekend when I go hunting for expired domains. Thanks for sharing!
