So I was wondering if I could make a paypal account at the age of 16 with my credit card associated to it. I heard that it locks your account if it finds out you are underage. If it isn’t possible, are there any bypasses other than making your parents make one for you.

If you're under 18, I wouldn't advise it (unless, you're willing to take the chance of accumulated funds being put on hold).

Have your parents open an account. In your situation, that's your most secure option.

what about linking a prepaid?

May as well do it so many people use PayPal just don't keep a balance just in case they block your account

Also, if they block my account and I have to wait 2 years until I'm 18, do I keep all my funds in it?

I made my first paypal account when i was 15 or 16, everything went fine until one month i received enough money to trigger their audit where you have to verify your ID. By this point it was not far off 10 years later, I proved my identity to them with my driving license and they told me that because my account was made when i was underage, they were closing the account. So they closed my account and I was able to make a new account using a different email address.

so you lost all the money that you had in that account?

No, I didn't lose any money. Can't remember if the account was empty or they let me withdraw it.
I'll see if I've still got the email and I'll let you know what it said

If you create an account while you are underage and they ask for your ID you will lose funds. Create account on parents name if they allow

Here is a quote copied from the email

If you've outstanding buyer complaints and you want to refund your customers, you can do so via the Resolution Centre in your PayPal account.

To continue using our service, please open a new PayPal account. You'll need to use a different email address.

If you have a PayPal balance, you can withdraw it to your bank account.

If you want to use the same financial details on your new PayPal account, please remove them from the account"
