So I got scammed for $137.50 recently. I'll explain what happened to expose the scammer, and to show how Paypal sucks.


Scammer's info:

The Story:

I had this guy on Skype since 2018. I don't know where he found me, probably from Blackhatworld. I was looking for Playlist Youtube Views back then and he tried selling me some back then, overpriced. I refused and we did no business together.

Last month he sent me a message asking if I have any project for him. I asked him if he can provide a particular service, and he said he could. Here is our entire conversation:

So I paid the guy:

Then he added shipping information and I confirmed it.

After he started ignoring me I did a Paypal dispute:

I waited for 3 days for him to reply, and when he didn't I escalated the Paypal dispute to a claim.

The guy had 10 days to respond to the claim, and he responded on Day 10, on the last day.

At this point I wasn't even sure if he actually responded or if Paypal just sent me this email because the 10 day deadline had passed. Then Paypal sent me this:

And then a few days later I got an email that my claim has been denied:

At this point I contacted Paypal and complained. They replied that the case was decided and it's over. They said i didn't provide information to prove my claim.

I replied again and told them that in the emails during the dispute process they told me they would ask me for more information if they need it, and they never did! I demanded that they re-open the case so that I can provide the information proving I was scammed here.

They replied telling me the seller provided information of delivery and the case is closed. I replied once again demanding that the case be reopened, and telling them that they're helping a scammer steal my money, etc.

All things considered, if anyone thinks you can't get scammed because Paypal buyer protection will protect you, don't be so sure. Paypal is a piece of shit company. There you go, undeniable proof.

This is literally PayPal following their policies. This is what they do, and is why sellers love to use them as they offer extensive protection for sellers. You should have done further due diligence on this one. Responding to someone out of the blue with zero recourse or responsibility to do what you say they are going to do, after providing no proof that they could actually do what you paid them for, after the equivalent of a cold call, and single word responses... this wasn't a PayPal issue. This was a bad business decision on your part, and is obviously so by the screenshots.

Perform due diligence before entering business relationships, regardless of the monetary amount. And if things go south, don't look to the multibillion dollar financial services company that is utilizing an extremely robust risk mitigation and dispute mediation process. Be smarter.

You have the option to add all the necessary information when you first open the case. You just needed to provide the screenshots and PP would have decided in your favour. It's on you to prove that the guy is scamming you, not on PayPal. To be honest, PP has some shit policies, but this one is entirely on you.

How the hell did you find this link? I literally just did a google search for "sonarkaushik scam" and it didn't pop up on Google. How did you find this? Did you go to Scam.com and search there directly?

Payoneer has a better dispute process than Paypal, as I've come to find out.

Yeah I was having a very messy month last month, money coming and going out like crazy, at some point I had to go outside of my normal channels to look for things to buy.

No matter, I've now brought most of the work I was outsourcing in-house, this will not happen again. And it's all over now

Funny thing with these scammers. They can do legit business and make thousands of dollars, but they choose to scam you for $100 bucks. Stupid cocksuckers.

And 1 of those was on Payoneer and was resolved in my favor. The other 2 were on Paypal and were lost, because Paypal is a piece of shit that rolls the dice and decides.

They said they would request additional information, but since you provided none at the start, they assumed you had none. You could have at least read up on the dispute process before starting it. You have to understand that PayPal must have a million scam chargebacks filed every day. If you can't take the time to read up on the process, why should they give your request any serious consideration?

They said they would request additional information, but since you provided none at the start, they assumed you had none. You could have at least read up on the dispute process before starting it. You have to understand that PayPal must have a million scam chargebacks filed every day. If you can't take the time to read up on the process, why should they give your request any serious consideration?

I did provide information. I wrote a message explaining the situation. They was the information.

Additional information would be documents/screenshots/etc. They could have requested it.

Yes of course I should have provided everything I had straight away. But they said they would ask me for additional information (on top of the information I provided when I opened the dispute) and they should have done that before deciding.

Yeah normally I wouldn't have done business with him. But I needed something and decided to go ahead with it anyway. Never mind, I can live with $137.50 loss. It's baby money

Just threads started, not individual ranty posts. PayPal doesn't suck. You were probably using a stealth account and PayPal knew it. Since it was likely a new account, you probably had significantly less "trust" than the seller. Figure your shit out and take the L on this one. Over 100 threads, man...

My only luck was,that i had no funds on my paypal and it was connected with my debit card.So i filed a claim through my bank,after i lost the dispute - as the amount was around 400$ - it was considered a theft/crime and paypal sent me the money back pretty quick.

I never had a stealth account in my life. It was my real 5 year old fully verified Paypal account with tens of thousands of dollars flown through it during that time.

The links you posted. The first one was my suspended Paypal. The second one was me gathering information about registering on Paypal after getting suspended, as I was wondering. The third one is me gathering information on what happens with suspended Paypal and the money in it after 180 days pass. The fourth one how to deal with a chargeback. The fourth and fifth one giving out scammer info to help anyone who runs into the same person in the future, as BHW ranks well and a google search is likely to show the threads. The next one is a Payoneer cargeback and information about it. The next one is a weird $0.01 payment I received on Paypal, and was wondering what's up with that. And the last one is this one.

All these threads were valid threads of me gathering information, informing people, learning and teaching. All legitimate threads. No duplicates, nothing excessive.

Yep. Paying through a credit card and via PayPal is a pretty easy way to avoid losing any money. I haven't had too many issues as I try to only deal with buyers through reputable sources. However, my bank will resolve any fraudulent credit card charges with ease.
