How many Low comp Keywords for a new brand site SHOULD target ??

As many as you possibly can! NEVER and i mean NEVER set a ceiling when it comes targeting low comp keywords. This is a marathon, not a spring. You should focus on targeting thousands of low comp keywords. Why? Because those usually carry the lowest amount of traffic. So, it´s better to target 1,000 low comp KW that has 100 monthly searches each than targeting 100 low comp KW that that bring 1,000 monthly searches each. Why you ask again? Because you will rank much much faster without even having to build a single backlink.

Thanks for your insight, i do have a method on how to find those keyword that easy to rank without a single backlink, but just want how much Kw to target

I think targeting 1000ish searches and using alot of very similar 100 searches inside that same article can work very well.

I just ranked 15 right away for a 800 per month keyword with a site just shy of a month old.

To be fair it's kind of a crappy keyword to convert but it's my highest rank so far so I'm excited.

I totally agree with you about never setting a limit on how many to Target but don't limit yourself from targeting larger keywords too.

My page is 700ish words..Im not done with it but published anyway

As a rule of thumb, the first 30 posts of my new blogs are dedicated to longtail search terms I can dominate faster

How do I size up the competition?

I actually click the results and see if
1) the content is on point
2) the content is long
3) the content provides high value

How many search should be those first 20 post ? as i think the first reply above have good point when it comes to 100 search a month!

i dont agree on this one, as the first thing i see is the DA and PA of the domain that is ranking for my long low comp keywords, then comes how much backlinks site have!

If you write articles optimized by 100 low comp with 1000 month views, maybe you will be ranked by 1000 long tails keywords which were mentioned in these articles?
