How to do competitor keywords research without paid tools?

Okay so here is the problem.

I will be starting as a freelance digital marketing expert. (don't worry I won't try to sell you anything). Since my budget is low for starters I won't be buying any professional tools like Ahrefs, Semrush, Spyfu, etc.
So far I have found alternatives to normal keyword research, topic research and question research.

However I cant seem to find good alternatives to competitor research. What I mean is something like Ahrefs's option to see what keywords your competitors are ranking for.

I was wondering if you guys have found any methods and I if you would be so kind to share them.

There aren't any. You can abuse the $7 trial if you care to. If you really do get a job as a "digital marketing expert", I'd advise getting it or you're gonna look like an idiot.
 
There is not anyone but you can use mozbar to get an idea about the keyword.

This is also something I have been asking quite a lot. Do I get only one $7 trial? Do I need to use different accounts for different trials? Does the payment methods need to be different?

Also I will get Ahrefs and other as soon as I get my first client however the idea is that I will be could mailing businesses with reports about their website social media and partial reports about competitors and then if they want to improve their website or see the full competitors report they'll have to pay. I mean it's no groundbreaking idea but I want to start somewhere.
 
One thing i learn. Check for HUGE authority sites.. If not any, hit the keyword even if tool says its 100% impossible.

Totally agree on that just looking at difficulty number from a tool tells you nothing. U should always judge a keyword based on the website(domain), backlinks you can find, intent, topic and the quality of the content.

there still people uing AdWords to earn heavy on it own .

Agree google trends is probably the most useful tool Google provides for keywords research Keyword Planner is totally useless if you ask me. Or I'm just not using right

What i actually do, im just buying keyword research in order to gain topic, idea and kcikstart keywords to rank. After 3-4 months im hitting the biggest keywords in the niche.

Unless im going for BH CPA with generators, im hitting em based on how comfortable im with the game.
 
I think if you want to do proper kw research then you should must use any paid tool beacuse without ahref or kwfinder you can't do proper keywords research
 
you can semrush trial for 14 days using some VCC having a little credit for the trial checkup. & use that. or you can also group buy some seo tools. search for it on google about that
 
I know as I am running a web design & digital marketing agency in Dubai the money is the main problem. As for your help I will suggest you to get the free trail of the websites for different gmail address & If you not happy with the results then get help with the others. I get to know some of the people selling all the accounts in a bulk for a month or year in a very cheap rate.
 
Just go for trial version of paid too. That would save lot of your time and you will get more info. Instead of searching free tool..
 
Use trail versions of SEMRush and Ahrefs tools for competitor keyword research...

Hey there, are you having luck with research packages on BHW? Been using the keyword shitter tool which is helpful but it takes a while to filter out keywords.
 
You call yourself an expert, but can't even afford $100 p/m for a professional tool? Not being trying to be a dick here, but this is all part of doing business if you want to be consulting or running SEO campaigns for clients. That's like being an auto mechanic and not having tools to fix someone's car. Not saying it can't be done, but man, you are creating a whole lot of unnecessary work for yourself.

Why not find someone who is also on a budget, who needs a particular tool, then go halfs with them? Really hard to be a professional without at least a few of these programs. Just my 2 cents bro.

Paid tools really are the best way of finding competitors' top keywords (if you're on a budget, Serpstat's lower tier $69/month plan will be enough. You can also get limited Moz, Majestic and SEMrush data via the SerpWorx Chrome plugin - 7 day free trial, then $29.95/month).

If you absolutely have to have a free method, you can try UberSuggest. It even allows you to export to CSV.

You can also manually go through competitor sites - it's farily easy to see what keywords they are targeting.
