Often, newbies will get in touch with us to say that they want to change their username within in days (or even sometimes hours) of setting up their BHW account.

Once you've started posting on your account, you can’t change your username until you become a Premium Member or a Jr VIP, and you can only change your username once a year. We put this rule in place for a number of reasons, but it’s basically to protect our users from spammers, previously banned members and people who have bought accounts and are up to no good. If you are a Jr VIP, Premium Member or Marketplace Seller, you can request a username change from any Staff Moderator (so @Don't Panic, @WilhelmScream, @Apricot or @Diamond Damien)

So the lesson is: think long and hard about your username before you go with it, because you’re going to be stuck with it until you upgrade your membership. Don't get caught out by the sign-up form - the field says 'Name' but it means the username for the account, not your real name.
