The quality of buyers is terrible on flippa and that is one reason why they have went in the toilet. I had listed multiple adsense websites for sales that ranged in income from $400 a month up to $50k a month and the same buyers would be sending me PM's about them know good and well they could not afford a site making $50k a month. Most are just fishing for how they can copy what you do. There is no vetting of the buyers at all
Here are a few things a lot of people should know about Flippa.
- The Flippa founders, Mark Harbottle and Matt Mickiewicz are in the domain name business; they own, 1.DomainHoldings(dot)com. Know for a certainty that a percentage of the naked domains being marketed on Flippa come from their porfolio.
- Flippa actually bought, 2. PotatoParcel(dot).com and 3. ShipYourEnemiesGlitter(dot)com, plus other such websites. Both of those were down for a while; they probably came back online at the beginning of this year, don't quote me on any exact date though. I followed both transactions to see what the buyers would make of those sites, only to uncover that they were bought by Flippa. This tells me that Flippa is operating on both sides of the coin.
- On some naked domains, income generating websites and apps, bidders are likely COMPETING against Flippa.
- If you recall, Justin Cooke of 4. EmpireFlippers called Flippa to the carpet in May of 2012; Flippa responded 6 months later by making changes and then contacting Justin to provide an update. Prior to the changes, Flippa was showing a propensity for shady tactics from both the buyer's and seller's perspective
All of the changes indicate to me Flippa is resorting back to old tactics, SMH.
For small sites, there is none matching it.
krishnaverma, I have a feeling that may change in 2020. I'm basing my feelings on the fact that countless site flippers, who produce quality sites, are not going to tolerate dealing with Flippa's shady buyers. Me personally, I DO NOT sell ANY domain name or website without using Escrow.com. I recently had a buyer offer $200.00 on a naked domain name. After accepting the offer, I initiated the transaction in Escrow.com and waited, and waited, and waited.
8 business days passed.
I looked under the transaction and noticed that he had not completed the credit card verification. I sent him an email, he responded by saying that he had completed it; again, that was not true! A few days later, he asked me could we use PayPal? My response? HELL to the $%$## No! Needless to say, he didn't complete the transaction. The current Flippa system breeds this type of conduct.
The EmpireFlippers system is a MUCH BETTER system in terms of vetting buyers from liars. BUT! Flippa would never implement those safety measures because they have been known to charge sellers the Final sales fee, even if the purchase did not go through. If the seller refused to pay that fee, their account was suspended.
Both buyers and sellers BEWARE on Flippa!
