Try post few ads by hand using clockfish and check , if they are live. You need UK IP to post on gumtree.

but what kinds of proxies work ith the program. HTTP proxies? do socks 4/5 work too? Does the program autoswitch the proxies?

You can use http proxies (currently we have small bug, if you use windows xp) and socks 4/5. Yes program autoswitch proxies.

I will pm- you for IP source.

Yes you can use external commands:

"rasdial \disconnect"
.
.
.
... etc to change your ip.

quick review - i have to say these guys' support is incredible...

I had a bug with the installation, they spent 30 minutes with me online, realized it was an issue with their code, then proceeded to...

DEBUG THE SOURCE CODE...
SEND AN UPDATED TO EVERYONE...

(while i'm still online and chatting)

And then it worked.

Amazing service + amazing software. I recommend.

p.s. I was told this works with hidemyip.com, as I think the workers (the actual windows where the postings is done) are internet explorer based, and hidemyip masks IE. Is that true dpalat?

Yes you can use hidemyip.com

To get this to work with Hide My Ip - 2 things MUST be applied:
- in gumtree poster: Options->'Use global connection/proxy settings' CHECKED
- in HideMyIp: Advanced Options->'Enable Legacy Mode' CHECKED

Email (from gumtree) will always tell you, your post is live (this is just to confusion you)... but ads are ghosted (change IP,Email,etc).

OK I'm going to use GAP for first time today after a bit. So some questions + ideas.

I'll be posting in the selling section, which requires a postcode. when posting manually i just researched and found a postcode that was good for every city - as that's how postcodes go.

My ads have stuck and not been removed and days later i keep getting responses.

What sort of solution do you people have for this - just put in a postcode from another city? I have a feeling that would get the ad flagged and removed.

Also, having said that, it would be REALLY nice to have (as further development) a postcode file added to gumtree poster which has, say, 100 postcodes in the city centre (as I write 'city' under location since I'm doing multiple ads and it has to fit multiple cities).

Also token support for the city name (unless there already is) - something like {CITY_NAME} under location which makes it look a wee bit more believable.

No major updates then, just some bug fixed when installing on fresh machine.

Almograz: under 'Repository'->'Special Variables' you'll find list of specials variables (only 1 for now). $[CITY] is i believe what you're looking for.
Interesting and usefull info about postcode(s) and the idea. Will consider that for further development.

ok ran it today after a few days of posting manually... what a blessing... i got 550 e-mails in a few hours!

however, they did take my ads down, almost all of them, whereas what i posted manually is still alive!

so it made me think, what else can be done to improve the humanness of the program? fixing this would make ads stick much more, and will make this excellent software even more excellent. i saw dpalat took my feedback about poscodes well, so figured i might as well:

- as i wrote before - a file that rotates postcodes around the city. i believe this is one of the major one they flag on automatically.
- a rotating list of names which matches the e-mail addresses, so an option to do:
John:Smith:[email protected]
Terry:Smith:[email protected]

atm, unless you do it manually (which sort of beats the purpose) all ads are posted under the same name!

password - randomize option! they keep them in plaintext on their servers, so again this can be used to establish a pattern. alternatively, a list of passwords.

e-mails - this i talked with dpalat on, but the option to rotate through e-mails sequentially so i KNOW how many times each e-mail address is used, currently it picks a random one through the list. this allows a one e-mail -> one ad sort of situation which would guarantee lower rates of ad flagging and removal.

phone number - i figure you can randomize her as well, something with a token? i use english mobiles because the number can be anywhere in the country (not location sensitive), 07********** (so 07 and 9 digits). anyway to randomize the number?

basically this is all going back to the same thing. gumtree poster is awesome, token support really helps make it look human which is great. but some of the great features like multiple e-mails just don't get all their benefit when other things about the ad make it look exactly like another ad.

something to think about, i for one would LOVE it, and other users, even without knowing, would make more $ using it, as ads would stick longer and better.
