You really don't have to spend a lot of money for local SEO.

Here's what I recommend:

1. Claim your Google My Business account and optimize it. Make sure you load up pictures with the keyword in the title, fill out your company info, write a complete description, and publish and rotate posts. I highly recommend using Oneupapp.io to do your posting.

2. Publish your business.site

You could stop here if you wanted. As long as you do it right you can rank with just a GMB listing and business.site

3. Create your website. Getting an off the shelf theme is perfectly fine. You'll want to have your homepage, about us page, contact us page, privacy policy/terms of service, and then your services page at the very least. If you want to spend more money you can build out "city + services" pages.

4. If you have a physical address you need to build citations. I use marketerscenter.com for this. You'll need 80-100 to start to rank in a mid sized (50,000+ population) city.

5. Build out a YouTube channel. YouTube videos rank really well and it also shows your expertise and authority to potential customers.

That's about the bare minimum. If you wanted to spend more you could start sending out press releases, building out rings of Web 2.0s, do some serious backlinkling etc.

Excellent advice. Getting a decently professional looking website with a basic list of your services, prices if you can list them publicly, and a contact page with email, phone number, address, hours, map, contact form is the most important thing along with a Google business listing. I wouldn't worry about the marketing or promoting or SEO side until you have these up and running. If you already have them running, then I would hire a freelancer for $10 via PayPal to review your website and listing to offer advice on how to improve them (where to add content, what type of content to add, what keywords to target). Then I would hire another freelancer for $10 to do the same thing and compare the results. Then I would either hire the person you are most impressed with to help you implement the suggestions (if they offer them), or you can even bump this thread with their suggestions and ask for our opinion, and then you can start another hire a freelancer thread asking who can implement those suggestions.

Only $10? Well, you're going to get what you pay for.

Why would you pay more than $10? I am happy to have you explain why $10 isn't fair value for such a task. Guru's out there telling everyone they are worth $300 an hour and end up sending you an automated report. Sure, OK... But go ahead. I really would like to have someone explain specifically what you think such a task involves that it is worth more than $10.

Because I do this for a living. My audits start at $2000 because I know what I'm doing.

That doesn't make sense. I can visit a medical doctor who spent 8+ years in post-secondary school, 3+ years in residency, and has 25+ years of work experience and get an assessment done for under $100. You doing something for a living doesn't mean a basic task is worth $2000. Is it your suggestion that anyone who charges under $2,000 USD does not know what they are doing? What is someone charges $20,000, do they know more than you? Come on man.

Local SEO contains many things than normal SEO. Because in normal SEO, you just create site and do Onpage and start link building.

But in local SEO, you need to create site add the address and map in the website. Do the Onpage and Create GMB and verify it. Then markup schema should be added in the website and many other things. These things are not of just 10$.

I normally charge around 250-300$ for doing all these things and everything is done in first month and from second month, link building starts like Google Stack, my Maps, citations, web 2.0, Guest posts, niche edits and many more things.

Well if you are not doing all that for your "normal" website then you are missing out.

I try and do whatever it takes to establish myself as a brand first. My affiliate websites get citations, gmb, press releases too and I think that's how people should do it.

$10 is just what I have recommended offering for a REVIEW of what has already been done to the site and assessment of what needs to be done to improve the sites online presence. This isn't my suggested fee for someone to actually do all of the recommended steps. $10 is just an offer so that the person doesn't do work and send a report for nothing. It's a basic consultation fee.

For example: Where I live, we have a system where you can phone a lawyer, and do a phone consultation for $25, for up to 30 minutes of consultation. If you want to hire the lawyer to take on your case, the lawyer will charge $200+ per hour. The lawyer doesn't care about the $25, it's a consultation fee. It helps prevent people from wasting the sellers time, and it attracts more offers to the buyer.

This other guy is saying he will charge $2,000 just for an AUDIT, but he can't even give us an explanation of why he is worth $2000, or what an audit means, or how long it takes, or anything. Just "I know what I am doing" so it's $2,000. It's a joke. If you can't tell me why your service is worth $2000 when someone else is charging $20, then I have to consider you a scam artist. Tons of these people exist online who overcharge their clients and take advantage of them and they just invent these ridiculous fee structures that are not designed to give clients good value in any way or be competitive in any way. The fee structures are purely based on what the most they can milk from a client is, and pretending that they are some premium exclusive authority in the industry.

They end up giving everyone a bad name when clients find out other people are offering the same thing at 10x less.

For Local SEO you can make local citations links

Which are Essential for any local SEO..and it cost nothing as well.

You never asked me how I did my audits.

Aside from the basics (checking tags, metas, page speed, technical issues etc) I tear apart the site to make sure that each page is targeting one keyword, and that each keyword is mainly triggering one page (basically making a keyword-content map). If they have two pages targeting the same keyword, or if one keyword is trigering two different pages (assuming only one page at a time is on the first page and they don't have both ranking on the first page at the same time), I'll give recommendations on how to de-optimize one and optimize the other so Google will start reliably serving up the page my client wants seen for that keyword.

Then we drill down into the analytics and see if there is anything creating friction to get the user from the page they landed on to a conversion point.

I'll do gap analyses to see if there are any keywords or backlinks that my client's competitors are targeting that they aren't, and which ones would be the easiest to target/acquire.

I also examine interlinking to make sure the site is architected in a logical and efficient way for Google as well as users to navigate around the site, while also providing Google with enough signals to show them which pages are the most important.

I do a quick reputation check to see if there is any negative press or negative sentiment about the company and brand floating around online. One time I had a client who was being slandered as a being Russian bot on Reddit and they had no idea.

Once that is all done, I'll take their targeted keywords that are stuck on the 2nd-4th pages and run a correlation analysis to see where they are falling short and what on-page changes they can make to give them the best chance of getting to the first page. Usually once these changes are implemented the desired page is ranking on spots 4-6 without any additional backlinks being built within a few weeks.

Then I wrap it all up with a video meeting where I go over the report, answer any questions they may have, and help them build a roadmap on how to fix any inefficiencies on their site and optimize it going forward.

Depending on the size of the site, it could take me anywhere from a couple weeks to a month and a half.

Edit: I'm not just charging for the work itself being done. I'm charging for all the years of experience I have. Think of it this way. I'm charging $10 for the work, $1990 for knowing what it all means.

Is there a significant advantage to ranking a SEO Agency if you have a Physical Location?

Are you still seeing results with Google stacks? I haven't been doing them lately because I feel like they've lost power.

You could argue that there is. However, I tell clients that if their agency is ranking #1 for a ton of keywords, that means they're going to be spending more time ranking their site and less time ranking yours.

But say OP found out ranking organically would cost a ton and results would take a long time. Could he theoretically rank his GMB, optimize it correctly with the correct keyword research and drive traffic in the span of a few days?

In a few days? Probably not, unless it was in a very low competition area.

2000? No offense mate but don't you think you ask a bit to much ? There are free tools that can help audit your site google mobile friendly, google website speed, and if you want some site audit ahref, moz, semrush free version etc
