Being Charged For SSL With HostGator?

Hi, was wondering if anyone else is in this boat?

Paid for 2 x SSL (for 2 x sites) with hostgator last year, shortly before they started giving them away for free.

Now noticed they have charged a renewal fee for each SSL. But new customers get for free wtf?

Are you sure this is the same certificate? Because there are tons of SSLs

I don't think the SSL you bought are free. There is a free SSL company and paid SSL company. The ones you bought is special to your domains. So they are better.

Usually these free SSL certificate are installed on the server and shared with all the sites that are stored on the server.

What you have acquired is a private SSL certificate.

Most hosts provide free SSL by Let's Encrypt. Of course some hosting providers do charge for SSL in case clients do need/want different certificate authority.
