This is the one and only solution, the rules of bidmas is a fundamental rule of maths. I rest my case.

There is no times sign between the bracket and the two. If there was, you would then add 9 +3 (Brackets) to get 12 and divide 48 by 2, (Division) and times by 12 (Multiply) to get 288

Because there isn't, first you multiply the two digit by (9 + 3) = 24 (Bracket)
Then divide 48 by 24 (Division) to get 2.

Your solution with 288 works only for this (48÷2) x (9+3) = 288 but it is different than original question.

You won't believe but in this case the solution is 2 because this is how we learnt in school.
"Multiplication" is in front of "division" so 48÷2(9+3) is exact the same thing as 48÷(2(9+3))
