The people who answered 2 thinks multiplication by juxtaposition has higher priority over a normal multiplication, which is not true.
2(9+2) is equal to 2 x (9+2).

a/bc is equal to a/b x c unless it be specify by parenthesis. a/(bc) would be a / (b x c).

Your teacher in school miss parenthesis because in most of cases it wouldn't change the outcome of algebra such as a + bc, It makes no difference to be written as a + (b x c) you know humans are lazy and they get used to that form. In rare cases that it matters they did it wrong because of human error. after a while they implied 2(9+2) is in fact (2(9+2)) which is not true. 2(9 + 2) is equal to 2 x (9+2)

You did not provide clarity, especially by using the ÷ sign (which is frowned upon and never used in the real world). The problem is ambiguous!

A). Are you asking: 48/[2(9+3)] ??

OR

B). Are you asking: (48/2) * (9+3) ??

If you write the problem like this: 48/2(9+3)
then the only way to interpret it is by (A).
 
First we do parentheses. (9+3) = 12
Next comes multiplication. 2(12) =24
Division is last. 48÷24 = 2
2 is our answer
 
I would have gotten this wrong by answering 2 but the correct answer is 288. Search google for "online calculator" and it will return one that lets you enter the entire equation.

48 / 2 (9 + 3) is the same as
48 / 2 * (9 + 3) then you do parenthesis first so it is
48 / 2 * 12 then you have division and multiplication which have the same priority so are done left to right
24 * 12 = 288
