I have been doing YouTube for 2 years and 5 months. At the start like every beginner I don't think my content was that great... But these days I have some of the best shot videos out there (and this is not me blowing my own trumpet).
After 2 years and 5 months I have a little over 9000 subscribers and I keep watching people who have content that is no where as good get their channels skyrocketing. For the longest time I wondered what I was doing wrong. Then I watched a video that really just opened up my mind (for lack of a better term).
Dan Lok said "Never treat your subscribers and followers like digits" No matter how fantastic your content is, if people aren't looking for it they won't care. All these time I have been doing YouTube, avoiding clickbait titles and all those other practices that I thought were "disgusting" or lacked class. Point is... I was playing myself!
Forget about what you think you know and create the content that people are looking for. Put the subscribers first and watch your channel explode.
So here are a few things I have started doing that seem to be working for me:
1. More clickbaity titles
2. Create content that already succeeded (YES, steal content ideas if you must)
3. Attention grabbing thumbnails (self explanatory)
4. Make more videos!
5. Share on reddit (Yes there is a bunch of terribly hateful people on there... You are not there to make friends, get the conversation going, get the views, the love and the hate and get out.)
I hope this helps someone else. I am on a journey to at least double my sub count and view count before the year ends. Join me and share some knowledge you have found to work on YouTube!
