We can Say the same for tv, printed press etc. It's just old people's nostalgia.
No, I'm not nostalgic about the past.
I'm worried about the future.
I don't want a TV 2.0.
Best Regards,
Jaymien.

yah, who ever invests the more, gets the customerThe competition is too big these days, in the past you didnt need much money to invest to earn something, now if you dont have some thousands to burn you are screwed right from the start.
Good emphasis on gmail, it even scares me sometimes when I think how many private mails are being kept at one company.
Exactly, we're not really building websites based on what people like anymore but based on what Google likes.

Jaymien.
EDIT: best example of this is youtube. Most of the content there is trash because of this reason.

i miss the internet of the 90s too
Yeah, although, the direction in which it's evolving seems "slightly" forced.Internet is not dying, just evolving.
Did you even read any of the points we made in this thread? I don't think so.REALLY ? iS tHe InTeRnEt dYiNg . The internet would never die , specially when everything thrives on connectivity
Back in the 1990's anyone would publish what they really wanted to publish, not for search engines.
Links were not sold or meant for ranking. It was all naive and legit. Sites published the truth, not what big corporations wanted to hear.
Today 99% of the crap posted by SEO experts is simply what Google told them to say. It's all fake.
Today links between urls are no longer organic. A strict minority links for real. Most links are commercially traded. Google completely destroyed the original intent of the WWW. Links are money, not legit citations any more.
Facebook destroyed individual publishing. People no longer run blogs or sites, they go into Facebook's closed system and live there. Same for Twitter.
The Internet gave individuals all the power and individuals decided to give it all up.
