lol @ the people bashing marijuana in this thread. There IS a difference between man made and natural so the only ignorance here is your way of thinking. I understand restrictions on things like cocaine, heroin, etc...because they are made of horrible shit. I can go to jail for smoking a plant, but I can drink alcohol until I can't even function without any repercussions. It's ridiculous.

Cocaine comes from a plant you *!&%^$, the coca leaf. Heroin is an opium derivative, which also comes from a plant....

A drug is a chemical which changes the way your body works. It is an arrangement of molecules. Whether it comes from a plant or not has nothing to say about its effects alone.

Hemlock - plant - deadly to humans

Paracetamol - synthetic - stops headaches

Weed may or may not have positive negative effects - but whatever they are, they cannot be attributed to the fact that they come from a plant. It's just too general an idea.

Thank you

I've done my share of plants (for Micallef) and other drugs over the years. All in all, they were interesting, but caused me too many problems to anything I'd want to pursue long term. That plus the fact I use all my spare cash for hosting, outsourcing and domain names, and drugs are WAY on the back burner.

Kary Mullis, discoverer of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (an amazingly important contribution to science, for which he won a Nobel prize), said if it wasn't for LSD he probably would have never figured out the PCR. There are numerous cases just like this.

Cocaine - Coca leaf dipped into gasoline and then nitric acid - man made
Heroin - The plant itself has no effects until its extracted and some synthesizing happens.

Weed/shrooms/cacti/Salvia is the only drug that you can take and use directly AKA no altering required. There is only a few plants that do that, and cocaine is not one of them.

That is the reason why LSD will always remain illegal. Every Goverment needs control, but if the public can think for themselves and invent shit which will eventually lead to revolution of the system, then the Goverment will lose.

There has never been a case of anyone dying from LSD/Weed and many other drugs, but because of control within the goverment, banning of these substances silences the public.

"Drugs are for mugs.."

"But what about painkillers for the sick, anti-retrovirals for hiv positive people, etc"

"Yea, but I mean recreational drugs"

"Ok, so you don't drink alcohol, smoke, or drink coffee?"

"Yea but I mean people who abuse those drugs"

...ad infinitum.

Everyone takes drugs, and moralistic people judge others on their use. The natural/man-made argument holds no water either. There's no such thing as kindly mother nature, versus frankenstein type scientist man-made chemicals. Salvia is natural and will knock you on your ass quicker than any dose of LSD, which is man made but an analogue of the natural Ergot fungus, etc. The boundaries between natural and man-made break down when you look at them closely and objectively.

Know what you're taking, research its effects and use it in a responsible way that won't affect others. That goes for coffee, alcohol, weed, etc. There are some drugs that it's nigh on impossible to use responsibly, and that's the drugs that people refer to in the blanket statements like "Drugs are for mugs", etc. Drugs are just chemicals, and like any chemical, can be used and abused. Snappy statements like "Just say no" and all that just make my piss boil though.

Although you have a bit of a point here, I must add that the native peoples of south america have long chewed the coca leaf as it grows naturally.

You've thrown up some counter examples, but you will never be able to say conclusively that all synthetic drugs are bad and all pure plant drugs are good because they are synthetic/plant based.

There are many synthetic drugs that are beneficial, mainly for curing diseases rather than getting high. Like wise, there are many plants that are harmful. Natural/non-natural is an incredibly simplistic way of looking at the issue. There is more going on. You need to see past such black and white concepts, to the molecular makeup of the drug and its mechanical effect on the body's functioning.

yea but i never said that synthetic drugs were bad, or natural were good. i just stated that only a few "plants" remain the same and get you high when you eat them "raw"

Find a person that has died from smoking weed or tripping on acid, and I will suck you up.

Ill be honest. I have done quite a lot of drugs in my life. I have tried just about everything. You name it I have done it. Ill give you some facts about what i have found out about drugs in my EXPERIENCE.

weed- not harmful but makes you really lazy and hungry

Ketamine- Remember what people used to say weed is like before you tried it? (fun, exciting and all that jazz when its really not) special K is like this. Its not harmful and wont cause you to die but if you take too much of it you cant move

cocaine-pretty addicting and is horrible for you and your body and you can have horrible repercussions for doing it

crack-just like cocaine only worse

shrooms- Positive and could be life changing if used in the right context

DMT & ayahuasca(which contains dmt)- Amazingly powerful drug that will teach you what you have done wrong in your life. Guide you to do better and my only drug I do ATM but use with caution as it is very very powerful and some can not handle it

Heroin- Makes you sleepy its a stupid ass drug because its BORING. People that are not strong minded and even some that are will have a hard time getting away from this drug and have physical pain.

LSD- I think this will fry your brain but its amazing to experience and it really opens your mind to creativity. I recommend trying it but only a few times in the right circumstances.

2cb & 2ct7 - similar to LSD only different mood wise IMO

Ecstasy - Amazing, great experience, Probably pretty bad for you in the long run ( people have said that it creates holes in your head but I believe this to be a myth as after I used this for a long time I had a MRI and I didnt see anything wrong)

Pills--All of them are horrible especially opiates.

Meth- Horrible drug, dont ever take, it rotts your soul and body and is highly addictive

In conclusion think what you want and while everyone is entitled to their opinion most people dont know the facts about drugs and just have the idea that they are bad because of this global idea that people have regarding drugs that we are taught that they are all "bad"

FACT - I dont feel one bit slower or more stupid now then before I did drugs.
FACT- I dont recommend using all drugs
FACT- Some drugs have a long history with tradition and some are used for healing (for instance ayahuasca is used to help cure heroin addicts and also psychological problems and various other ailments)
FACT- I studied and gathered information prior to experiencing any drug (sometimes I read up on the subject two years prior)

Thanks, just wanted to give my .02

@ghost
haha u gotta be kidding me ? right..
coz i have seen people dying..my friend died bcoz of overdose ...

I don't want to give you any ideas, but you can stimulate those pleasure (and even creativity) areas without long-term effects:

"In Larry Niven's Known Space stories, a wirehead is someone who has been fitted with an electronic brain implant (called a "droud" in the stories) to stimulate the pleasure centers of their brain. In the Known Space universe, wireheading is the most addictive habit known (the only given example of withdrawal is Louis Wu), and wireheads usually die from neglecting themselves in favor of the ceaseless pleasure. Wireheading is so powerful and easy that it becomes an evolutionary pressure, selecting against that portion of Known Space humanity without self-control. Wireheading need not use an actual brain implant; the pleasure center can be remotely activated by a small device called a "tasp" (important in the Ringworld novels). In 2006, The Guardian reported that trials of Deep brain stimulation with electric current, via wires inserted into the brain, had successfully lifted the mood of depression sufferers.[1] This is exactly the method used by wireheads in the earlier Niven stories (such as the 'Gil the Arm' story Death By Ectasy)."

Of course, dying from neglectance may result in a minor case of death.

Also, to the people who take natural drugs over chemical ones: what the fuck? The effects of synthetic drugs can be adjusted (it is not often) and monitored; the same can not be said for natural drugs.

The only reason they are generally less harmful is BECAUSE we tend to not appreciate things that are harmful. Therefore, plants which had similar effects but on a scale that would decimate your neurological functions, have long since been avoided and forgotten.

This doesn't make them (natural drugs) any more healthy.

Your statement shows your lack of knowledge on the topic. Marijuana is simply produced by the same natural processes on earth that create all plant-life. People have to synthesize drugs like cocaine, heroin, etc. While drugs can have wonderful purposes such as treatment for whatever...my point is I don't feel something all natural should be regulated. If I can go out and smoke a pile of tulips without getting into trouble then why can't I smoke marijuana. I feel the same way about wearing seat belts. Why should I get a ticket for risking MY life? Some laws are broken. Period.
