RIP Huawei - Google restricts Huawei's use of Android

This is sad and can happen to any phone maker anytime. So I expect to see phone makers doing their own OS and maybe we would have a strong competitor to android in 5years courtesy of china

I would love apple if it wasn’t their slow pace of innovation, for now if you’re looking for innovation and value its point towards Samsung. However gotta say apple did one hella of a job with the software.
One thing I like Apple is simple , just use it. But problem yea expensive for " nothing " Like recently I just change one old iMac mid 2011 , power supply , I just hope it work
the power button i never change , as I need to run bot urgently as the repair man does claim the power button also intermittance , I does know that.
Have to press a lot of times than can turn on. Neverthelss I can skip that since I always on to run bot.

for iphone so far I from iphone 4 kinda suck home button faulty , than iphone 6 , use only two years + suddenly mic kinda got problem .

than now iphone 7 , cross finger can last for years at least . Iphone XS ? I don't have extra funds to upgrade as long the present phone is workable.

last time I use to chase latest tech but now a days I more like to use old tech as long can get my stuffs gone also lazy to change new ones .

so come phone man I used to chase for the latest one , from Nokia to various brand back in late 90s , now open my cupboard look at those old phones cannot use
I does feel zzzz is all money man . This is why I don't chase for lates tech stuffs BUT again tech companies does can " play tricks force you upgrade "

rip huawei users, good thing I bought another brand. nice decision I guess.

Huawei phones are the best money to performance ratio.. this sucks.

Honestly, the most reliable phones I've had, this sucks.

Haha, this thing is applicable for upcoming Huawei mobiles buddy. ;)

China got the taste of their own medicine, they didn't let any foreign company to run own their soil, now they are behaving like this BAN did not effect them. :P Ofcourse it will cost them a lot in sales.

i doubt whether it is true that huawei provide spied data to china government. If it is so, they might ban xiaomi, oppo, vivo, etc right

how about iPhone. But for me kinda fear now a days APPLE also " greedy " zzzz the updates on IOS and OSX
sometimes I don't wanna update or not , as they claim " security " but who knows lag your old iphone and mac.
It's not really android vs iphone at that range. It's more like android 1 vs android 2. Iphone is for fanboys anyways. :D

My first reaction to the news was "this is stupid, anyone can fork android and make their own OS".

Then I realized Android is not actually open source.

It's proprietary even though it uses Linux and a ton of free software inside it.

This is a shocker for me. I thought android was free/OSS.

In my opinion, it will take some time but Google just started something new. Huawei will do their os, and after that, they are going to be untouchable.

This is all politics. The best smartphone I have ever used so far was a Huawei. Better camera, better speeds, better battery life, and better pricing. All pluses if you are an android lover.

This thing being blocked by google is a setback but I'm pretty sure Huawei or a couple of Android hackers will find a way around it.

With all the spying accusations aside (is it even true???), Huawei does have the appeal and the advantage because they can make better phones for much cheaper.

I have to admit that thanks to Huawei, I feel like I'm getting ripped every time consider buying an iPhone for my wife these days. Shit... we are all getting ripped off buying 800 dollar phones... Damn my unlocked Huawei was only $150 and that was brand new!

This outcome confirms to me that Huawei is on track in becoming a powerful global company for China and the US won't allow it as it goes against US interests; just a small part of the trade war... or politics, whatever you like to call it.

Android IS open source. Huawei just won't be able to use Google services, such as Gmail, Play store etc.

I read somewhere that it's mixed. The kernel is OSS due to the viral license in stuff it uses like linux. You can't close source linux. But all the stuff that "makes it android" is proprietary.

Kinda like chrome. It's OSS but there's ton of proprietary and secret stuff in the actual browser you download.

That's basically the same thing I said. But I think those small things are negated when companies make their own software versions on top of android, like Huawei has EMUI, might be wrong of course.

Actually they CAN use Android, but not Google play, Youtube and so on.
