Can anyone recommend a few natural sites for external link building that are not requesting you pay a fee to post on their site?

The best bet will be guest posts. Guest post could be of 2 types, auto approved or manual. Both are good and have their own advantage but if you are looking strictly for best quality, you should look for blog outreach. Approach other blogger in your niche and check of they accept guest posts and go ahead.

I've reached out to 100s of guest post websites and maybe 1 or 2 didnt ask me to pay lol

Do you offer free guest post on your money site, with follow link?
I mean the percentage. He said he outreached 100 sites, but only 1 or 2 didn't ask for money. That's 99% or 98%. I don't think the percentage can be that high. I do outreach often. Many site owners offer free guest posts to me.

Obviously depends of the niche. If you are in financial, travel, gifts or anything like that - you consider 1% free guest posts as big win.

And relationship is another important factor. If you have built a good relationship with a blogger, of course he will offer you free guest post opportunity.

Why though? Isn't the content worth it for them? Is there a downside to allowing an external link on a single page? Every authority website in the world have thousands of outbound links.

Do you mind to do me a favor? Like and share this post. After all you do it all the time, for free?
When I am the 101 person to ask you this, are you still going to do it for free, especially whenyou have several offers "ill give you $5 if you do that"?

See where this is going? When you CAN get money for something, it doesn't make much sense to give it for free..

Of course only build relationships with influencers. Or the bloggers you just like to talk with.
Of course I am going to spend the month exchanging pleasantries with "influencers".. get real, mate. Not going to happen. Those people are in the business for money, not to be nice to you.

I don't know why you say it's not going to happen. It happened on me. If you do it right, influencers will help you for free(including guest post)

But there is a benefit to the website owner to give it away for free. There is a direct benefit to having an additional 1000+ word piece of original content on the site, it also adds to the overall authority of the website, ranks for keywords in search engines, and it's another chance for other visitors to link to the page. Lots of authority websites give away free guest posts with the only stipulation being that it is original content and well written. This isn't a finite resource, this doesn't cost you anything more than a few minutes to review the article, and surely smaller blogs are not being approached very often.

There is no benefit to me in liking and sharing some posts. If there is an obvious benefit to me, then I will do it.
