Review Time:
I received a review copy of the Enterprise version of LinkBox for free in return for an honest review. I've been playing with it over the weekend and have used it enough to give my initial thoughts and some feedback.
Overall, this is a very solid tool that does exactly what it says it does on the tin. The interface is gorgeous, it's easy to use, and is comprehensive when it comes to normal link tracking and management.
Installing and activating was a breeze, as was adding domains. Once the domains were added, adding sub pages was also just a click or two--after adding, it was easy to start adding links on a per-page basis. Within about 30 minutes I had a handful of links migrated over from my spreadsheet to the software. Once the links are added, it starts to break down important info such as do follow and no follow links per anchor, per page, and per domain -- along with cost per link (if you enter that info).
There are also a number of useful analysis features such as unique domain count (overall and per page), cost averages and calculations overall and per page, do follow and no follow statistics overall and per page, along with anchor text keyword analysis features overall and per page.
I didn't experiment much with the contact feature and tracking expiring links, but the functionality those provide allow for some powerful processing. If I had links I was entering on the URLs I experimented, it would be super handy know when they expire (without digging through emails and such), and who to contact to maintain these backlinks.
With that said, there is room for some improvement. At the bare minimum, I would like a way to import bulk URLs per domain in one click. A spreadsheet that has backlink URLs, target URLs, anchor text, do follow/no follow, etc. would be ideal - but even a way to just import a backlink list and go through and add more details over time would be great.
Another feature which may or may not be on the roadmap (I know requesting features is easy, but implementing can be difficult and time consuming) that I would like to see is the ability to bulk check existing URLs with a click. For example, click a button to start scanning so the software can determine which backlinks are still alive and active, check their properties (anchor tags, follow/no follow, etc.) which would come in handy when trying to keep track of several hundred+ backlinks over time.
As of now I give LinkBox an 8/10 - it's very solid as-is and does exactly what it should, but a few features to allow faster data entry and an easy way to check up on backlinks over time would make it a solid 10/10.
