Instagram Growth Newbie

Hey all,

Recently joined due to the amazing information that is provided in this forum.
In just a few minutes of browsing I've already picked up a few neat tricks!
It's exciting to see such an active community!

Like most, I've been using instagram for years.
I've seen all the phases, observed the constant algorithm tweaks, and noticed the current state the platform is in; and it is in a VERY interesting place actually.
I hope to not only benefit from the plethora of material already available here, but to also contribute back by actively participating.

If anyone is interested in seeing my current small project on instagram search @spewnicorn.
It's a meme account that I've been using to test multiple methods of growth.
Of course, I have much to learn still, which is why I am here.

Again, I'm seriously amazed with this invaluably handy website.
While not as qualified as others due to my brief experience in real world marketing, I am presently in my last year of undergraduate pursuing an advertising degree from a top 10 public university.

Hi Lucca I feel the same way-- I just joined and am looking for Instagram growth tips too! Instagram is a crazy place there's sooo much going on I'm truly stunned and a bit intimidated... But more determined than intimidated

Hey, I checked your IG, it looks great, you have a good engagement rate.

At this point, have you tried contacting other meme accounts to offer them a free shoutout in exchange of another shoutout? Or if you want, you can even make an engagement pod with them.

That's one of the strategies that helped me the most to increase my followers. In addition, you will meet people with the same interests as you, which is amazing!

I definitely agree with you, it can be intimidating.
But now we have an entire forum for reference!
For one, the biggest tip I can offer is to really refine your hashtag research.
And by that I mean set out to find active hashtags for your niche that are also not so crowded so that your posts don't get instantly buried.
I really like 300k-500k post hashtags, that's the sweet spot for me.
Gather ~100 of those so you can cycle them and don't risk getting shadowbanned for repetitive use.
If you do this right, you will eventually see a quadruple increase in engagement!

I will certainly start with your method once my shadowban is lifted.
I've been shadowbanned before, and I'm shadowbanned again... both times for the same reason: people report my posts and they get successfully removed by instagram.
There's no appealing this either so it can be a very toxic process
Still, I'm very excited to try this out, a much appreciated tip

Howdy, I'm currently an account manager for a startup marketing agency.
I enjoy it a lot, it's a very fast paced yet rewarding environment.
I've been transferring some of the skills picked up from ad campaign analytics over to my own little social media affair.
But all in all, social media marketing is a totally different beast that I've yet to dominate.
I hope that through the use of tools like this website
we can all broaden our skill set

I enjoyed reading the thread. Sounds like I am finally in there correct place. I have built my Instagram account organically and for a year it was trial and error. Currently I ad 5-10 followers a day. I was at 500 12/31/19 , currently 1,995. I look forward to learning from Insta pros,those in the promotion field and this of us stating to build our brand. Thanks
