[New] Instagram Update - Bio

Depending on your country, you may not be seeing this update yet. For me I only see the first few lines, and then have to click "more" so now I am not able to just view an entire bio quickly without clicking more on every one.

I understand that. But as the author uploaded the content, it is obvious the LINK is not affected. Or is the update affecting different countries differently?

If someone is really interested in your profile he will click "see more" without any problem.
I dont feel affected, I dont need more than 2 lines to let people know who am I and what I do.
But anyway, yeah this update is a bit annoying tbh :/.

Followers should be impressed by profile photos and video but not with profile bio. I don't see nothing bad about that update.

What I'm saying is a profile will get traffic to their website just from having their full profile visible - including link in bio.

When they make people press "more" it will now drastically reduce this amount of traffic to that link because only people who are interested enough in the description will press more to see it. I don't think this is a good thing if you rely on website traffic.

Ok now I see what you mean....in the OP, it is showing the link in bio. Perhaps this has changed yet again the past few days - because initially it did not show the link in bio unless you pressed more...that's what I was upset about. The new format is ok.

I think they release a lot of features in small amounts to certain countries before pushing it out to the masses, so everyone sees things differently for different periods of time.

That's true as I don't see the change at all in both web and app, yet.

The link in the bio is still there without users having to tap on more, so I don't actually think the update is intended to discourage the sale of shoutouts. Sincerely influencers help Instagram retain more users on the platform when they sell shoutouts because those shoutouts are mostly adverts to other Instagram pages. Maybe this update is just an attempt to make the bio area look more cleaner and enforce users to let visitors know who they are or what they do at first impression.

People read the bio only if they want to learn more things about the page. Most people don't care, you've got only few seconds to impress them with your profile and your content, if they don't like it, people are going to leave.

I agree with this 100%. I don't think that this update is anything to really fear. As long as your content is above par, then you shouldn't have to worry.

I got this fking update on one of my new accounts and it’s fking annoying.

One of the stupidest things is that I can’t see similar accounts (blue button next to Follow button. When you clicked that button you could see similar accounts and etc)

On a one hand I'm happy, cuz usually it takes me some hours to create a good looking bio for every niche account. I dont use spintax and do all manually. But on another hand WTF. Now a lot of accounts may get almost the same bio.

I do live in East EU and have this feature on both devices IOS / Android

Have you updated your Instagram app?

If yes, then it seems like this feature is not available in your country yet.
