Facebook have damaged my page reach

Hey everyone

I am an admin of a facebook page with over 1.2million followers. Our page posts mainly video content posting around 3 - 5 videos a day.

Since December 14th we noticed the post reach & engagement had become abnormal and decreased dramatically which we didn't understand why this happened suddenly with no reason.

We have never stopped posting and have always kept the page active and we have been posting the same content which grew our page to where it is so it didn't make sense how the audience reach could just drop like that so suddenly.

we have other pages which are not related to this one and have way less likes/followers but the post reach is now higher on those pages. For example we have another page which has 100k followers and the post reach is higher there than on our page with 1.2m followers which is crazy.

Our page used to grow at a rate of around 1000 - 3000 likes a day but since December 14th until today our page has only grown by 3000 likes which doesn't make sense either.

Also when we search for our page videos they no longer come up in facebook watch/facebook videos.

We believe this is a technical bug from facebook because there is no way how this can make sense. We have pages who we are competing with and post similar content and their page hasn't been affected but only our page has, their video views & reach still looks normal so we just dont understand why facebook would do this to our page. We have done everything right in growing the page so this has to be a technical bug or mistake from facebook.

Somebody please help us find out what has happened and how we can get our page reach back to normal. Let me know if you need more information

P.S - I just wanted to say that on the page we are having issues with we gained all our likes/followers organically and we have did not pay facebook to advertise our page or posts on this page.

We created another page like this one back in 2013 with the same name but we used to run it differently and we paid for ads a few times on that page. We don't use that page anymore but it's still there on facebook and it only has 8,000 followers.

Facebook most likely changed their algorithm and limited the reach of many pages. This has also affected the posts in groups too. Have you seen an uptick in "Boost This Post" notifications?

Facebook limiting reach and forcing people to boost their posts is simply another way for them to make money.

Sadly this is not a 'technical' bug its a 'greedy fucking mark Zuckerberg' bug... facebook have limited your organic reach (not just yours, everybodys) and they want you to spend money in order to advertise to your own (!!!) page likers / followers.

so bascially they want you to -

1. work super hard to get page likes
2. pay so those page likes will actually see your content

and that pretty sums up why facebooks stock is down like 2 million % since the beginning of the year ^_^

I felt that might have been a factor but it's only that particular page which the reach has been limited badly. All the other pages we have are fine and the post reach is normal

That's what I thought too but there are facebook pages who post similar content to our page which we are competing with and their post reach seems to be normal and hasn't been affected so why is it only our page which has been targeted by facebook?

The post reach on all our other pages we have is normal it is only this page which the post reach is affected. It is the biggest page we have but now it has a very low post reach. We have a page which has 100k followera and the post reach is twice the size of the page affected which has 1.2million followers.

You understand that you are using THEIR platform and furthermore you have ZERO control over what happneds right? that is why I recommend to have your own site and email list to hedge the risks of having the properties you do not contorl banned.

That was one of the aims, to build the facebook page to the point where it could drive alot of traffic to website and other future platforms we may have

i unliked loads and loads of pages, of my personal facebook page, most i never got any updates from, somehow lots of pages gets to the bottom of the pile, just because a page is liked doesnt mean your customers or likers get to see any updates, not sure how it works though

I still wonder why Facebook is still active.

It's noisy but no longer useful. Groups have been reduced to crap, technical groups have gone to shit. I watch some programming groups, all gone down the drain, complete shit.

FB is a politics warzone now, nothing useful.

About page reach: yep, Zuck has made it so building followers isn't worth it anymore. It's a waste of time and money. Focus on your website instead.
