Hello BHW,

I would like to know ideas on how to take advantage of +55 local business Wordpress websites (institutional and ecommerce sites)

Most of them, are medium to large companies. They all have between a minimum of 100 to 400 unique visitors per month. Domains are all ".com" and majority of them are 2-years old domains. I know there's a risk on loosing the quality of the content of each website (for the visitors) if I place some annoying ads.. But I was thinking on something smoother, or maybe hijacking technics.

Actually I don't use any method to monetize, I just charge my clients annually for a hosting+mantainance service.

Please let me know your toughts. And happy new years to everyone!

Cheers from Argentina.

If your clients are paying you for the sites, they're not your sites to monetize.

If the sites are costing more than they're bringing in, try up-selling related services, and increasing the costs on the next contract renewal date. If you hack your client's site to steal their paid ad space, before long you won't have any sites left at all.

PD: I am also thinking about offering blackhat backlinks services, since all websites have good SEO.

Let me know what you guys think.

Greetings.

You are thinking of using your clients' sites as platforms to sell links?

I am asking mostly for technical ideas in order to present the available options for the clients interested.
Whatever profit you might potentially make by selling links will be far outweighed by the lost income form the discounts your clients will demand, the clients who cancel their service outright, and the sites that end up penalized or deindexed.

If you want to experiment with BH methods, disposable domains and hosting are already dirt cheap, there's really no need to jeopardize your established clients.

I'm sure glad I don't do business with you.
Understood. I think this thread got out of hand.
Could you please delete my thread? I think it is currently only inciting hatred and violence. And that was not the idea.
Sorry.
Thanks in advance.

Nah, I'll leave it up.

It's not inciting hatred and violence but rather a different point of view than you have.

This is a good thread to show people that screwing your clients for your personal gain is not cool.

I didn't ever screw anything for my personal gain.

I just wanted to know what could happen in that scenario.

I am a human being, I make mistakes. I am not a robot.

I am just asking you to please delete my thread.. There's no need to take this in a personal way.

It is not personal at all and I didn't say you were screwing anything for your personal gain.

Actually yes, you are saying that here..

Not personal at all?
Come on.. How old are you? 30-40? Im 22.. I said that I didn't want this thread to be up.. Will you keep taking this personal without reason and making fun of me, or will you help me deleting this post as a moderator? I asked kindly mate, no need to take things like this.

I think you should protect your clients, who trusted in you by buying your services. Taking advantage of their properties, without their agreement, it's not something ethic ( and it is also illegal, I think ). What if you were in their places? Would you like it?

Cheers

Don’t worry @jjatala we all make mistakes, just own it and move on.

Best thing to do here, probably, is increase your hosting charges a little and/or up sell - maintenance plan, security, contact form spam filtering, updates.

That's clear mate, I don't oppose to that. I was just saying a case scenario for investigation purposes.
Also I am not talking about "without their agreement"

And, if you want to know.. I was in their place..Since it already happened to me on a hack that I got some years ago. (All my websites got hijacked, fortuneatly I was able to delete the malware)

Please. Don't throw wood to the fire.. Cheers.

I appreciate the value of your kind reply.
Sure, definetly ads are not a good idea here. I am currently working on a cloudspace for clients and other services like graphic design for social media, etc..

I know good service in long term is the key.

*Another interesting fact for you guys to know is that here in Argentina, its really hard to charge clients, We are a country with the cheapest web/app development prices in the world, like Venezuela.

Also, Thanks for refreshing my mind.
Cheers

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be an uncommon practice. Threads exactly like this one pop up every now and then.

Nobody is making fun of you personally so do not take it personal... we are talking about the concept.

The thread has value for anyone that deals hands on with clients.

5 years ago I had a client that had 40+ gyms across the USA from the East coast to Kansas and each had their own site and I considered putting links on those sites to market supplements. It would have made a bucket load of money but decided against it despite one of the managers of those gyms telling me it would be fine to do.

Most of us have those thoughts and discussion like this helps keep us in our lane.

Related to this --- I have a lot of local business friends in different industries...

If I help them optimize a couple things on their website and then ask them for an honest review/post about me and my services would there ever be potential for this to penalize me/them?

Our relationship would be local business owners as far as google knows we aren't connected in anyway --- all legit local businesses with long history of reviews etc and addresses..
