Is there a way to promote health products which are banned but aren’t dangerous ?

Nothing illegal , but it still falls under the category of illegal so it can’t be directly advertised.

Wait is it illegal or not illegal? Can you elaborate a bit more?

This thread is gold and salute to OP for taking time to answer the questions.
First few posts already full with nonsense.
Facebook ads are one hell of an investment and headache, list your questions or move on.
Will keep my eye on this, maybe i can up my game with a thing or two.

Thanks

Hey,i'd like to thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Im not sure if this is a stupid question, but i always seem to struggle a bit with this one:

What do you look at in order to determine whether to kill an ad or not? Run for a specific amount of time and see a return or not? Or something else?

We measure a couple of {benchmark metrics}:

- Ad CTR (minimum even for WH ads we look for is 2.5%)
- Relevance score (minimum we are looking for is 7 for WH ads, and 9 for BH ads)
- Lander CTR (to offer/product landing page) (11% is the minimum we look for)
- Backend CR (varies)
- ROI (varies)

I don't really kill ads anymore based on CPC, we used to, and it was a really good metric to measure with facebook, but this year we have stepped away from this since facebook ads have exploded so the competition is more stiff.

In terms of time; the more expensive the product (Cost to consumer) the longer we give each ad to optimise. As a general measure:

Each ad has a baseline "adjusting period" of 24 hours with us.

- WH ads; you should be killing if your benchmark metrics (above) are looking shit after 24 hours. If they are looking good, but you have no conversions, you should add 36 hours for every $50 in cost to consumer, so if you're promoting a product that costs $100 for the consumer, you should give it the baseline 24 hours + 72 hours to optimise.

- BH ads; you should be killing if your benchmark metrics (above) are looking shit after 12 hours (you have less time as the acc will get banned faster). If they are looking good, but you have no conversions, you should add 12 hours for every $50 in cost to consumer, so if you're promoting a product that costs $10 to the consumer (nutra trial for ex), you should give it the baseline 24 hours + 12 hours to optimise.

Q: Its viable to make your own accounts and credit cards?

Q 2: What is the minimun budget for someone who wants to start with FB Ads? With 0 experience with the platform

Thank you :)

1. Yes it is viable to make your own accounts and credit cards, but it takes a sophisticated setup to pull it off now.

2. You need to have $4000-5000 to throw away to even consider starting, because the cost to setup is now quite a bit. I'm sure others say they get started with less, but that is pure blind luck (or most likely they are lying), and starting a business on luck is generally not a good option.

How can I target the USA with very low CPC website clicks?

What gain do you get from website clicks?

How to scale a campaign while keeping the same cpc?

I've been struggling with this. As soon as I try scaling that particular campaign my cpc gets increased by 4x. I know scaling comes with higher cpc but the daily budget is pennies I'll be fucked when I increase the budget to xxx$/day

In, short how do you go about scaling link click campaigns? where the goal is getting traffic, not conversion.

I actually have developed a pretty good scaling strategy that I'm happy to share here:

Day 1 - you find an ad that is performing well, 12 hours into this day, duplicate the adset 3 times. Don't increase budget
Day 2 - kill the adset(s) that are sending high CPM (your issue isn't cpc it sounds like, its' fb increasing your cpm)
Day 3 - Duplicate the adset(s) that are performing well 3 times again

Keep doing the above.

This is a general strategy however please note, I haven't looked at your specific campaign so there are some other factors you need to consider why your cpc is increasing:

- Low relevance score
- Small audience
- Low CTR
- Timing when you are increasing the budget

This is not the Lounge, so anyone else thinking smart arsed comments that add zero value to this thread is funny = You're wrong ( and will also pick up a warning ).

Thanks @kasher9 for taking time to do this.

Thanks.

Hey man, great to see you are doing an ama. I am genuinely looking into the alternative methods to traffic and I can spend money on it. However, every time I have tried fb ads I have failed, may be due to the fact that I didn't do any research on it.

My question is a n00b question. Can you share me a method using which I can get some good roi?

For an example let's say I have an app which does "reverse phone number lookup" for a particular country. How would you go about it? Let's say that my site doesn't rank anywhere.... And I am gonna funnel it to a clickbank affiliate site. Not to mention that this may not be allowed by fb in reality. Sorry if this sounds too dumb.

Btw, this isn't my niche (anymore. It used to be 5 yrs back lol). Just want to see how people go about fb ads in general.

Unfortunately as mentioned I'm not going to be sharing campaigns.

I can however say that you should look to test your funnel (traffic source--->landing page--->offer/product) on free traffic (group spamming/IG) before you take it to paid traffic. Paid traffic is expensive and it requires investment.

When you create your campaign funnel, make sure to add your fb pixel to the offer/product so that you collect your data to use later on :)

Once you are sure your funnel works and it's converting, only then try paid ads, and by that point you should have some data to build an LLA/audience.

hey kasher, thanks for taking the time!

1. How do you deal with the inconsistency when launching the same ads on different accounts?
Basically you know that from prior testing you have a winning ad creative (and funnel) but the same creative is performing poorly on a new account.
I usually launch the conversion campaign with an inital budget of 50-100$ and let it run for a couple of days before creating LLA's to scale.

If the conversion campaign isn't generating a positive ROI, I like to relaunch the adset (with 4 images) to tap into a new audience. Most of the time I do however see the same performance, even with relaunching the adset.
Is relaunching adsets the best approach?

2. Dealing with Ad fatigue.
I noticed that ad creatives are experiencing a shorter lifetime and FB artifically puts a tax on creatives that have been running for too long.

What's your opinion on using "dynamic creatives" with a couple of proven images to let FB rotate them and fighting early fatigue?
Or do you still recommend the standard method of launching 4 same ads in an adset, disabling the 3 worser performing ads and switching the ad creative as soons as fatigue starts to kick in?

1. We deal with inconsistency with same ads on different accounts by making sure our ads are altered a little with each account. This is an ongoing issue and as such, I understand your frustration. A good little golden nugget: look at your audience, and break it down ;)

Relaunching adsets is another approach we do adopt - so we'll keep relaunching until it performs. It sounds like you're running BH, and if you are, an alternative approach you can take is bid for a different placement comparatively to your first account. So lets say acc1 is running ad1, and you want to run ad1 on acc2, we will run IOS only on acc1/ad1, and android only on acc2/ad1.

2. Yeah this is happening to us too, especially between sept-dec, it's been a pain. I think it's down to the user and not facebook - the media has completely wrecked facebook's reputation this year, and as such users are much more sceptical of the ads they are being shown on facebook. One of the solutions we have found thus far is to keep buying engagement ads for your conversion ads, it seems to keep the scepticism on the bench.

3. We are testing dynamic creatives, it works exceptionally well with WH, with BH, I have noticed we get a lot more disapprovals. For now, we are still using the standard method for BH

First thanks for the reply. I've got some follow ups, based on your reply I'll number them to make it easier than highlighting if you have time to reply!

A: Never from fan pages, only from the pixel, but yeah the vast majority of our campaigns are "naked" due to the nature of BH. Our whitehat run with LLA's @ 3%

1. So do you not use fan page data is the because:

- your fan pages are not yours so can't guarantee the quality of the page
- you built up the page with bought fans?

Would you run from the fan page if you built up your audience with 'like' ads? So we run a highly targetted ads to gather new fans on the page as a result we get a fairly dynamic fan page with a good interaction rate. Our ads we run from fan page and pixel return about the same kind of engagment.

A: To test a new advert, we will run 3 ads inside each adset, and 3 different adsets @ $30/daily spend per adset. This actually aids Facebook in optimisation and really like this strategy. We generally end up with 1-2 decent ads per 10 ads.

(caveat to this: this strategy is generally for WH campaigns, our BH strategy is a little different)

2. Ah that's interesting we run the same split but over 4 adsets with 3 in each. Do you test again with variations on the best performing ad in that set or just run with it?

A: Well, we operate across 5 different Niches/verticals, so it's really difficult to give a ballpark figure, but september-dec has definitely been tougher this year than last year. We generally only run conversion campaigns for sales, and our return is around 70% on average (we have campaigns that do 600%, and then we also have "loss leaders" i.e. negative campaigns, this is the nature of our business as we operate on high volumes)

3. If it helps this last quarter has tanked as well for us we are down 63% on last year. I think it's down to a number of factors most things seem to be down. We have one consistent ad for building the brand and the rest goes towards sales.

A: I'm yet to see the same ad work on the same ad account for 12 months consistently (on and off yes, but not every day for 12 months). We don't do seasonal shit, and it's down to internal strategy; I simply don't want my team bidding against brands. We've done event specific campaigns, but not seasonal.

4. Thanks for that, we do a fair bit of seasonal which is down to the product rather than the time of year i.e Christmas what had taken us a while to figure out is to run our seasonal about 8 weeks before the actual season running during has always tanked. Seems obvious but with our product as it was mostly down to targetting users who typically leave things to last minute we never had any luck converting them but the 'early bird' consumer performed much better now our seasonal stuff runs before and never during..

Thanks for taking the time and the replies. Interesting insight :)

1. We don't use fan page data since its garbage data for building LLA's. It works for very specific verticals, none of our verticals unfortunately.

I love fan page ads, I think they're a great way to build up organics, but I wouldn't use it to build LLA's.

Do you get the same kind of ROI from fan page LLA's vs pixel LLA's?

2. I used to do the 4 by 3 method, in fact I was one of the first to implement it/advocate it, but we switched from july because we saw accounts became a little more sensitive to this approach.

3. Yeah, I believe it's a lot down to user sentiment towards facebook. The media isn't doing any favours and there are a lot more SME's bidding for facebook ads which has driven up the cost of the adspace tremendously.

4. Yeah the last min approach doesn't work historically with ecom/product campaigns due to the nature of ecom - they simply won't receive it in time, and the quality will be poor (high complaints etc)

I used to do some consulting for some major ecom brands as a favour when I had the time, and I completely got rid of their time-sensitive retargeting which their moronic agency had setup, that alone gave them a 30% ROI increase on fb ads haha.

What gain do you get from website clicks?
I want people to sign up as members on my website if they want to.

Also, I`ve not started the campaign yet but if you can give me some ideas will be nice; Age between 16-50 / Passionate about IM, online money making and stuff.

Okay that makes sense. Thanku dude!
Let me try perfecting the funnel first. I hope I can ask another question if I have one ;)

You scale only duplicating the adset 3 times without increasing the budget or changing anything else? Isn't too slow when you want to scale faster?
Q. How do you start testing? 3 same adset for each interest?

Could work, but your optimisation goal is completely wrong - you want to do conversions. I wouldn't suggest running this without reading up on facebook ads as it might be money down the drain. Also, read my previous posts about creating lla from previous clients.

Sure

Yep, this is the best way to scale I have found for BH campaigns. For WH we do it a little different.

Testing is completely different to scaling, please refer to my previous lengthy post.

You are a Fucking cunt.

Well aren't you a pleasant human being for throwing abuse at an unpaid mod.

thank you my friend for being helpful. i waited for this kind of threads to get right answer for my Q
as we all know FB is so strict nowadays for both free and promoted website traffic so i need good strategy to get about just 5000 visitors to my blog through ads, i have funny videos website i am afraid to use my ad account to promote my links and got blocked i don't trust fb anymore they ban people from no where even white hat content :(
i appreciate your help and thank you in advance

Crap I want to ask about this but
  • Don't ask me about payment solutions/account supply, we have our own internal solution in house, and I'm not looking to sell/self-promote.
I bought aged farmed accounts but the problem is after adding VCC I get suspended immediately. I don't know if adding the VCC to a Paypal account is the solution. I am using the VCC last 3-6 months but not until November.

Please let me know your opinion. Its okay if you don't reply :)

Can I target a specific group member?

Or is it possible to target only those people who have liked some specific page?

1. We don't use fan page data since its garbage data for building LLA's. It works for very specific verticals, none of our verticals unfortunately.

Do you get the same kind of ROI from fan page LLA's vs pixel LLA's?

Yes the ROI is very similar due to our product we can't market outside of the EU - I think if we where marketing globally then the ROI of Pixel vs Group would be totally different.

For us I think the page works because it's a very specific kind of person we are targetting, the marketing pool is smaller but our page engagement rate or when we post an offer directly to the page gets a better response than any other brand page we run (in house)

So we take our facebook fans ignore them when targeting and then go after a very specific set of people within that pool. So what we found that has been working well is to slice our advert age to a segment of 32yr old - 45yr old and then again 59 - 69yr olds our product seems to do better when marketing ads to that age group.

I think one reason we do better with group vs pixel is that our site is still growing we have seen a mass amount of growth this year I think as that continues our advertising is going to have to change and adapt with it, and I suspect we will see the pixel start to outperform the fans.

We have wanted to get every ad to work where possible with the smallest amount of money spent so every ad we were running at the start of the year had target pools of 10-20k now it's around 50-80k I've found going super specific with targetted and negative has done wonders for us.

Hey kasher9,

1. Have you tried Facebook ads with Indian traffic?
What was the average Cost per Lead?

2. Have you run fb ads for survey offers? What was the cost per lead?

Anyways...
Thanks.

What kind of ads would you recommend for a clothing company?
Like what type in order to make sales

Video ads
Picture ads
Or what?

1. What is the Reason of facebook page reach is Down.?
2. Its Possible to get USA and UK Like in Cheap Price.?
3. Why Mia Khalifa is Too Hot.?

How do you look at the future for JSON ad with chatbot interaction and possibly deal inside the chat within, instead redirect them to landing pages?

Let's say you have a funnel with an opt-in (where you get your leads by giving them something of value but for free) and after they sign-up for that you introduce them to an offer.

You don't have any "pixel data", but you have an email list of 1000 people who opted for a similar thing as you are giving in that sales funnel.

What's the best starting point with FB ads in this case (with the assumption that you want to make sales as soon as possible)?

Should one run ads for leads first (since you can create similar audience out of optins), and then after 20-30-40 sales create similar audience out of buyers?

Any other insight is helpful.

Btw. price will be tested ($37-$47 range), and I have seen that only one or two people are marketing these kinds of products. Does that mean anything?
Btw2. have you notice if video ads have significantly lower cost comparing it with picture ads?

How my friend i can build a viral page tips and tricks .... (increase likes fast) ?
thanks for advance.

Hey, I’ve been learning FB ads for a while with improvements little by little, started off with losing money to breaking pretty much even on ad spend vs profit but I can’t get over the hump and kinda gave up... sad anyways here are my questions...

1. I have a small budget right now, soo to get a big enough sample to have lookalikes etc... is almost impossible for a long time, what should I be focusing on in that situation?

2. What are the common causes for a person to atc, get to the checkout and just leave? ... my site was not secure during this and I did not know, but now I paid for the ssl certificate, would that even make a difference ... I know u can’t answer this 100% because it could me anything but just curious on what it might be

3. When I do my ads it’s for one specific product instead of the niche of the site not sure if I’m wasting my time doing it that way or not, for example I have a sportswear site and I’ll make a ad for say a running shoe I sell and have it so when it’s clicked it goes to that page instead of making my ad on all sportswear in general

Thanks for the reply if their stupid questions I guess skip it

hei, I have a strange problem, I have set a like campaign, and I have 10 adsets running on it for 5 different sites, and my audience is over 1,5kk big, a few days everything was ok, but then my ctr starts to dicreasing and I found out that by 100k impressions I only get a rech of 40k people, so why is fb showing my ads to the same people several times, if the audience is 1,5 million biig, maybe u got an answer on that, thanks in forward.

ps: I have exlcluded all peolpe that have already liked all of my sites.

anyway i can target the custom audience by using the Facebook user ID? is that anway to scrap ID to email address? is that still other way to scrap group page liker?
