my new site has been targeted by hundreds of brute force type attacks, a lot from Ukraine and Russia.
is this normal for any type of website?

I am using wordfence premium to see where the attacks are coming from.

yes its very normal, there are tons of bots constantly scanning the whole IPv4 address space for vulnerabilities.

I feel like my htaccess is fucked up, my site is slow, even with Cloudflare. I'm new and don't want to delete anything that will make everything explode.

If you use CF then you can block them at the firewall without them ever reaching your site.

Yes, its normal, its a way of shittyfence showing u they are working in a hope u buy their premium version

Brutforce attack isnt a real attack and the best defence for it is using Strong password and horray, u r safe now

it happens every day. Im using Ithemes security and it tells me everything it can about where the attacks are coming from. It's got some nifty security features too.
Agree with @Asif WILSON Khan that cloudflare helps a bunch.

I am using StackPath - that seems fine to me, I prefered StackPath more than Wordfence, Not sure how in long run this will be better option for me
