I'm new to SEO, and i'm just wondering if you can rank on google for articles related to anything without a SSL? i have a store website and my ssl expired so now chrome sees it as unsafe, so i'm wondering if the google ranking spiders do that too?

You can rank without SSL, however it is good to have it, so consider renewing it.

Why not make it again SSL positive? Let`s encrypt it`s an easy way, of course free.

SSL does not have a lot effect on ranking, at least right now

If you have an online store you should definitely renew your certificate or get a free one.

SSL is not that important at all. However since you were using ssl before, so your url usually started with https:// .. and now its just http://.

So you you can see its 2 different urls now. Most probably lot of your backlinks would also be for that https. It might take some time for the link juice to flow through the new url. I would suggest to get a ssl though - online stores should have a ssl as it boosts user confidence.

SSL is not important for ranking but it's good for your website. As you mention it's an online store so it's very important having it. Search on google and look closely you can see a lot of website ranked without SSL.

SSL is also considered when ranking but it depends on the keyword competition. If your keywords are highly competitive, then Google will consider ssl as +1 to your site.

I didn't read above replies. But OP you need an SSL no matter what, its a ranking factor.

Can you imagine yourself purchasing something from a website that is marked as unsafe? Just use any free SSL at least.

Yes you can rank your website without SSL But if You have SSL then google or search engines will prefer your website

yes you can rank without ssl there is no issue . But its good to have ssl .
