Don't think just act!!


Today reality hit me very hard. Unfortunately all my assets and funds are frozen by the govt since I've been sued by my piece of shit husband for alimony. Not giving you a sob story here at all but I simply want to highlight the follies of human nature and unwillingly yet complacently staying within the stifling vicious circle of financial depravity.
I require $3000 for the lawyer since my hearing is on the 2nd and mind you, my ex husband actually earns very well (six figures monthly) and pays no child support. Unfair! I know but Im in a place where I can't do much since I'm a woman. You're getting the point. I took action!!!

Oh well..Long story short:

Need- $3000

Went online and looked at my delivery app that I have. Went through all the restaurants we have ever ordered from. I have the past receipts on the app therefore it wasn't tough to see the places we had ordered from.

A) Put down all the restaurants I have ordered from on an excel sheet.

B) did a Google search

C) Most of the restaurants didn't have a website. I called them and waited for what seemed like a lifetime just so that I could speak to someone in sales and marketing.

D) Called 10 restaurants today and here's the response:

i) Rest1 - not interested people already know about us. ( smug s.o.b)

ii) Rest 2 - pls come and explain what you have in mind. Went in to see them within three hours as I didn't want to seem desperate. "Just an avid eater at your restaurant that finds it unfair that the world knows so less of you"..lol.

Website creation and content service- $200 (cheap as hell I know but it's a start and I need every penny now)

iii) Rest 3- "A woman like you should be the CEO of my company, how about we discuss this over coffee this evening?"

No thank you.

The rest asked me to email them with my proposal and designs. I'm going to do that all night.

Tomorrow I have four more meetings and many more cold calls. The reason I wanted to share this with you all was that we suffer from the fear, the fear of incompetence and fear of being rejected. Not to mention the complacency that grips us,gives us the toxic comfort that it'll all be ok soon. How ??? Not unless you take action and put in ground work yourself. After that it's the universe to take care of you.

Take action guys. I know I did and I made $200 today. Does that mean I should make a thread saying...NOOB friendly method try this and you'll be a millionaire!!! Hahaha. J/K guys, just making lemonade out of the lemons that life has thrown at me

Yes you're right about the alimony aspect but the scales apparently gravitate towards the person with more fixed assets and security which was myself, hence the lawsuit. For now, it's 8:30 am where I am, half an hour more and I shall start calling up more potential clients.

Oh and today's developments/paths to success (also known as failures) are as follows:

Sent out 10 emails last night and got 3 responses already from their respective sales and marketing departments.
I have meetings with 2 potential clients and 1 declined. I'm awaiting the 7 other email responses with expectations of the worst rejection (keeps me grounded to be prepared) yet I have a positive outlook all based upon the meetings I have lined up today and the $200 I made yesterday.

Got lots to do and shall update here very soon and I must add, I hate journeys or discussions where the result is unknown and dies down after a few days. I will reach the end of this journey as one may call it and then cease. For the next 20 minutes it's coffee and it's companion lol.

And on rest 3 - I'm sure he would have made you the CEO of his company after you give him. :p

With the $200 you made, don't invest that here and there. Study the forum mainly affiliate and CPA marketing. Start with CPA marketing and with the right sales page you can earn good 3 figures per day but you need to study.

Also, did you not make him sign a prenup before the marriage?

Well, when I get married I would make my wife sign a prenup first. My business and assets are and will be my everything. :)

I just wanted to update this thread as it keeps me motivated and tells me that I need to get my butt in gear everytime I get distracted.

So here it is:

I had four meetings previously and added three others today so a total of seven meetings and just got done right now. I am writing this as I'm waiting for my uber :)

Meeting 1: They were problematic and asked me to show them a company registration because they wanted it professionally done. My argument was that I'm trying to set up a company but when that happens the prices I work around currently ($200-$500) will not exist. They'll go up significantly not to mention other logistical issues such as delivery of website has to be done through chamber of commerce since they want to make sure it's complaint etc.
Oh well, apparently they have a set budget and wanted the following:
A) formal education that says I'm certified to design websites
B) company registration

It didn't work out. I told them when I had the company, I shall contact them and do my best. (No point in burning bridges)

Money-$ 0


Meeting 2: I showed them the designs I'm capable of making and my articles that I had written about them beforehand. It was gruelling since it was detailed and I had to make it all cheery and happy ugh haha. Anyway, so they liked the designs and they had one condition. Apparently they were duped by someone in the past whereby the guy did the website but wouldn't give them the control logins of the hosting etc. I assured them by signing a document stating that all property of the restaurant will be exclusively of the restaurant's only. The agreement states that I get paid half now and half upon delivery of the website within a to me frame of 5 business days.
Money: $250 (first instalment)

Meeting 3: They wanted to see business cards ( I should've printed some ugh) and a company. They said due to legalities they cannot hire me. That's bullshit because there are no legalities that stops anyone from hiring a freelancer. It ended with a courteous smile and a firm handshake.
Money: $0

Meeting 4: This time it was a lady. She was eccentric but a lovely lady nonetheless. We got talking and one conversation lead to another which resulted in myself giving her a brief outline of my life. Being a woman I guess helped since she was in similar circumstance in life and there's nothing worse than picking yourself up every morning, looking around and seeing nothing but hungry mouths to feed around you. That's the sheer reality of life and one has to deal with it.
I got the gig!!!

Money: $300 ( entire package)

Meeting 5- They wanted an app done and didn't understand that I was offering. They didn't want just the website and I am not qualified to do an app. So that was no go :/

Money- $0

Meeting 6- I'll make this concise because we had alot of haggling since I was a freelancer. They went ahead with it but pricing was pretty bad. They said they'll get me to do other stuff if I do this right.

Money - $150 (something is better than nothing)

Meeting 7- I'm exhausted and fatigued at this point. The owner was a pig!!! He wanted to test me. He said to me," if you can write about my restaurant then tell me how you'll write it". I gave him the rundown but he wasn't happy. He made me eat some horrid grilled turkey escalope and I had to tell him my review right there and then. I am quite good with presenting my thoughts therefore it worked out well. I was honest because I couldnt give a shit a that point. Honesty helps and he hired me :)

Money: $250 ( entire package)


Total made today: $950!!!

Remaining money to be made: $ 1850

I have to keep hustling because baby sitter costs are huge but I am confident I will do this. I am thankful for all your support and kindness. It's a shitty world out there and not an ounce of kindness is offered. I have to always remind myself to be kind to me, to take care of me first or else I cannot extend that to anyone around me either for business or otherwise.

I have emails to answer right now so plenty of work still needs to be done. Ah the joys of breaking your back lol.

Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate this as every bit helps. I will definitely let you know if I need your expertise. Although people here don't deserve it but in case I do I'll turn to you undoubtedly. Thank you once again for this.

You're right! I would have to compromise in order to be the CEO of his shoe box company . Not about that life :)

About the prenup, well I met that degenerate while I was in high school and besides having just 2 other relationships, he was the only man I've ever loved and all that nonsense when you're young. I'm 30 now and I've realised life isn't about love and the feelings that come with it. It's all about perspective and right now my focus is on making my little girl's lives better. My 9 year old isn't in school because of it and it really messes me up when I see her stare out the window when she sees other kids go to school. Not for long now.
Life is tough and one has to deal with it.

Never invest a penny on anything other than your own security, never invest any feelings into anyone. Hard pill to swallow but prevention is better than cure. Sorry about the mindless ramble.
