What a useful guide. Didn't know LinkedIn can be used in this way and it does sound good. Will definitely try it out.

I will add to this post:
1. If you want to be successful on Upwork, you need to already be making money and you need to simply move your agency's payment system through Upwork and let them collect their fee to make it look as if you are successful. Then you can start applying to larger jobs and point out quality vs price viewpoint, share your portfolio links and expect a small conversion rate. But the clients you get are better quality and usually larger agencies looking for contractors to white-label.
2. Wondering how to pitch on any website? How about how to pitch period? Simple - put out an ad on the platform, or go opt-in at websites in major metropolitan areas and see how what their funnel looks like. Set a few appointments and record them so you can hack their presentation or ad. Works on any website (Craigslist, Upwork, Websites, Reddit etc.)...

Solid advice, however I think it would be more damaging than profitable in the long run, given that Upwork fees are out of control these days.

It's called a profit margin; simply increase your price of the fee, times your tax rate to know what you have to increase by...

Some are new, some are not. You can easily get around the problem of not being able to connect with people if your account is new, in case you're facing that kind of situation.

Your work background doesn't matter here, it's always wise to check out the Making Money section if you need to get some hustle going.
