Hey everyone,

I have a few questions about YouTube and was hoping some one experienced could answer it.

1) If I make a channel of short videos of copyrighted content(for example I pick certain portion of the a video and make a 1~10minutes short video edited out of it), and say the channel have good views etc, can it go into any ads network?

2) If I get any DMCAs for any videos, does the channel get banned or the video is simple removed and any recent earnings on that video goes away?

3) I've heard the earnings get shrink because of the copyright on top of whatever share you have with the ads network is that right?

4) What are the basic requirements to apply for any of the ads networks from YouTube or where could I check those?

--- I didn't notice until now that there was a YouTube section within the making money forum, if a mod could move it there, I would appreciate, and sorry about that.

Thanks in advance...

@Zwielicht thanks for moving it, hopefully some one will clear my doubts about YT.

Ok...

1) Don't do that. Y would u do that? Just create original content & earn money. It just requires patience.
2) What does DMCA stand for...
3) Yes that is right. If u have copyright content, u either get a strike because the copyrighter doesn't want his content on other videos or the copyrighter allows it but he takes a share of ur earnings. U gotta discuss that with the copyrighter
4) The basic requirements a 4000 Watch Hours, 1000 Subs.

Did this help??? (What is DMCA)

just create an original if you plan to monetized it in the future

Thanks for the replies.

Well I see this a lot on YT, where people take pieces of a video and make into their content with small edits to the begin and end of it.

For example, take a tv show and pick the best moments of certain episode and make into a short video and post on YT.

So that does not count as an original content?

DMCA stands for Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

I heard that in this case, it would fall under the fair use act but since I am not sure I am asking...

I've had a YouTube channel with 160k Subs and 50m views after just 12 months.
These 3 tips might help you solving some of your questions :).

1. Go with google Adsense (most adnetworks not paying that well)
2. NEVER upload copyrighted content (in the end your channel gets disabled if you do)
3. look for no copyrighted but still interesting content / niches
