Hey there, this is a great question and you can absolutely make $20 a day online. I’ll list some of the ways you could do it and then i’ll talk more about my favourite way.
Here are some ways you could do it,
Do work on Fiverr (4-5 jobs per day = $20 a day)
Sell a digital product as an affiliate (1-2 sales per day = $20 a day)
Offer local business to manage their Facebook page/social media (1 client at $620/month = $20 a day)
Start an amazon business and sell 2-5 products per day (2-5 sales = $20 per day)
In each of these examples im talking about PROFIT… $20 a day of profit..
Each of these are things that I am currently doing or have done in the past, so I know they work. Most of them actually get much more than $20 a day, so they are all great options.
My favourite however is using Amazon FBA to start an amazon business.. and there’s a simple reason why this is my favourite.
It’s the ONLY one on that list, that requires very little ongoing work.
Once you setup your Amazon business and get it running, sales will come in on autopilot and you won’t have to handle any packing or shipping or customers, Amazon do all that for you with Amazon FBA.
FBA stands for Fulfillment By Amazon. It means that Amazon fulfil your products to your customers. All you have to do is get a bulk order of a certain product to Amazon and they take care of the rest.
I’ll break it down for you in more detail so you can have a clear roadmap of what this looks like.
Step 1: Product Research
You need to find a good product first so you can have a healthy profit margin and guarantee that you’ll get sales and traffic.
We like to choose products that have a good balance of competition and demand. Demand tells you that people need this product and its popular on Amazon. Competition tells you that other companies have chosen this product as well and deem it profitable enough to work on it, this is a very good sign.
To find the demand of the product, look into the Amazon listings and go to an individual product page. Look at the Best Seller Rank or BSR, which shows on every product page under ‘additional information’.
Amazon rank every product by this bestseller rank. The top products (highest demand) have a BSR of 1 in their category. This means they are number one, and the demand is extremely high for that item. We like to find products where our competitors BSR’s are between 1 and 2500.. this shows that out of the millions of products on Amazon, this item gets a very high demand and therefore we can start selling it.
Now to determine if there’s too little or too much competition. We look at the reviews of our competitors to decide if the product has too high of a competition. If the average products in the top rankings have 300+ reviews, then it might be a little too competitive. However if the product has too low competition (10 reviews or less) then there might not be enough demand. If however the demand is showing with high BSR’s, and the competition is extremely low as well, then you might just be sitting on a goldmine.
When we select a product we also make sure they are small and light. This saves us on shipping costs in the future. Make sure your products are small and light too or your shipping costs will go through the roof and eat your profit margins.
Finally we choose products with a price point of around £15-30.. this tells us that we will get a good profit per item and we can likely make a lot of money on this item without having to sell too many.
When you have a few product ideas that fit into this criteria, you can move to step 2.
Step 2: Suppliers
The best way to find suppliers for your product FAST, is to use Alibaba. That’s what we used when we started out, and its the best way to get bulk products to Amazon. Search for your product, and then in the search results, tick the “assessed supplier” “gold supplier” and “trade assurance” boxes so you know you are only seeing the BEST suppliers.
Then just email as many as you can, and tell them you are looking to start a test order of a few hundred units. This will help you get started with a small order and it shows them that you are just testing their quality.
Make sure to find out all the extra costs involved for using the supplier. You want to know how much shipping will be, both by air and by sea, and how long it might take for them to make and deliver.
You also want to find out if they can put you’re own logo and labels on the product, and if you can design a product box or packaging so you can brand the item as your own.
If everything checks out and they are able to do everything, then you might have a winner on your hands.
Step 3: Getting Sales
Step three is getting you product to Amazon and starting to make sales. This may seem like a daunting task and you will have to learn how to use Amazon Seller Central (This is amazons seller platform). I recommend signing up to Amazon Seller Central in the country you live, so you can start selling in that country.
Amazon have tons of resources on their website and youtube has tons of videos as well, where you can learn how to use Amazon Seller Central, you can also take further training at this point to learn how to properly use it.
The process however is quit simple.
You create a new listing for your new produce. This option is in the ‘inventory’ tab and “add product”. You then choose the product category, and you can put in the information such as the price, the title, the bullets, description and you have to add a unique product code as well. This is known as a UPC code. You can search google for “buy UPC code” and you’ll find tons of website that sell them. You need a unique product code for each item you sell on Amazon that is branded as your own unique product.
Once you set up your Amazon listing, you are then given the option (also in your inventory page) to print labels. Amazon call these labels FNSKU labels, however they are just UPC codes that Amazon have converted into their own product codes, which they call FNSKU.
You can also click on “start a shipment”, this will allow you to create a shipment from your supplier to amazon. You ask your supplier how many boxes there are of your items and what the sizes and weights are of the boxes. You then put that information into the “Start a shipment” section on Amazon, and Amazon will provide you with a special sticker for every box of individual items that your supplier has. These labels will go on the big boxes that are full of your items.
Thats the whole process.. everything else can run on autopilot. Your supplier now ships those boxes to Amazon, Amazon opens them up and reads the FNSKU labels on them (you can also request that Amazon label the items themselves) and then Amazon sorts your items into their crazy fulfilment centres.
When a customer then finds your listing, and buys your product, Amazon will automatically ship out the item from their fulfilment centre, without you doing anything.
The big picture
Once this process is setup, you can order thousands of items from your supplier, and they get shipped to Amazon, organised into fulfilment centres, and sent off to customers, all without you lifting a finger.
This is why it’s our favourite process.
Yes it’s not as easy as Fiverr to get started, however with Fiverr you have to keep working every single day forever if you want to make money. If you stop working, the money will stop coming in.
With Amazon however, if you stop working for a week or a month or even longer, your items will still sell from Amazon to your customers and you’ll still make money every single day.
I hope this post was helpful. Obviously I couldn’t go through everything about Amazon in this short post, I have simplified the process slightly while also trying to give as much in depth knowledge as possible.
