Why not remove the old services that have been running since 2012

Hello BHW members, this is my first post on the forum. I have been lurking here and trying out various different services ever since i made my account here. And i have noticed something that has bothered me for quite a while.

You see, when you go to the marketplace of BHW and look under web design. There are numerous services that are running. But then you look at when they started selling here and most of them are from 2013, 2014, 2015. We are in 2018 now, surely those services that were huge and popular when they first launched do not deliver most of the promises they made when they started their unmatched service.

I want to give you guys a bit of an example of what i am talking about. Last year, i purchased a service that promised me to make me passive income without having to do anything. They even promised in their infographic that they will place Adsense ads on my new website. Everything seemed too good to be true, me earning passive income in hundreds and thousands of dollars per month? I decided to give it a go and i got the website that was as basic as any website can get with poor articles riddled with grammatical errors. I asked them where were the ads and i got a reply saying that due to security reasons they did not place any ads on the website. They did not take care of Adsense, BUT it was promised in their inforgraphic that they will take care of EVERYTHING. Wouldn't this be classified as flase advertisement? I found out after my website was built, that they were trying to sell me more services so i can get income form my website. Services that would cost me couple hundred more dollars. Not wanting to drag myself through this, i decided not to argue as i did not invest a big amount. But it still left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I looked at when their service started and it started in 2015 with high reviews. It's still pinned under Web designs in the marketplace.

My idea is why don't the mods do a yearly checkup on all of these services? Why don't they check and order one of their services after a year and see if they still meet the standard. That they still deliver what they promise. If not, then shut them down because a lot of new people expect a lot and get disappointed when they get the final result. You can take a look at Dominos or any other business. When a shop opens, it is thoroughly investigated and it's made sure that it meets certain requirements. Health inspectors also randomly pop in and investigate without informing anyone and if something's wrong, they shut down the shop.

That's something i felt maybe needs improvement. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i would be open to listen to everyone's thoughts on this matter. Thank you.

Normally inactive threads are closed by @Apricot , so mods and staff are on the ball. If you bought a service before joining then you have no real comeback

I'm not even talking about inactive threads. That's just a different conversation. I am talking about services that have dropped in quality. Promises in their services not being fulfilled and services that were once worth your money are simply not in 2018. A check on their quality must be kept secretly to confirm that yes, they are still providing the same high quality that they started with in 2015.

I do Agree with the OP. I think that if the sales Terms have changed since the original service was posted that should be posted in the updated front page.
It should not be buried in the thread. But if the service is different then what people were expecting then we do have a SL list which can be used y the buyer(or seller) and if the Mods feel that the seller is not delivering what they stated they can shut down the BST

Services that are paid for can run it doesn't matter if they are 2 days or 2 decades old.

If a seller isn't delivering what is promised, we have the Shitlist option if issues cannot be resolved.

Keep in mind BST threads are often updated, so despite it being opened in 2012, check the dates of any updated edits by staff or the OP.

Finally as @Zwielicht says on his service reviews; For buyers: The quality of the product or service that I receive is what you should expect, or better. If you feel that the quality of the service has dropped significantly, please let us know via the report button.

Certainly confusing, you joined in 2017 and have lots of posts, why is this your first post on the forum?

Yes i did join in 2017 which was when i needed to purchase a service. This isn't my debut post because i have posted for some help before. But my first post in a sense that this is actually the first time i created a thread here for a discussion. Sorry for confusion, i probably did a poor job explaining but you'll have to excuse me on this.

Certainly agree with you that no matter how old a service is, it should be allowed to run unless they are not delivering as promised. But the issue arises that not a lot of people click report. I myself, not wanting to deal with for a few bucks decided not to report a year ago. Which in hindsight was a bad move, i should've reported and raised an issue. I think there are a lot of buyers who are new and they won't report the service unless they have invested a significantly large amount. if a seller's services are reviewed again by an undercover mod, and if the service has indeed dropped in quality then they could take action and prevent a lot of hassle for new buyers on the forum. This could keep the forum in check, and a good place for the new buyers to invest in.

You'd be surprised though how many people advise sellers they are going to submit shitlist, then make the inital SL post and don't bother following up with any actual proof / evidence, yet still log on most days. I tag people in posts asking for the required info = NOTHING.

The onus is on buyers to report issues, as per the quote I gave above from Zwielicht because without any reports, how can we know there's any possible issues?

You are definitely correct that the onus is on the buyers.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a place where buyers could submit honest reviews for a service. Or, a feature where a buyer is obliged to leave feedback so that the community benefits from it.

Because whenever i see a service in the marketplace, i'm browsing to find some reviews apart from the moderator who approved the thread. But all i see is, "samples?".

Buyers are encouraged to leave an honest review in the sales thread in which they purchased... that is huge in terms of helping others decide to buy or not.

Personally when looking through the marketplace, I look at the most recent reviews. If there has been a service around since 2012, I have the same thoughts as you. Which is why I wouldn't purchase if there was not any reviews in the last month or two. Services from years ago can be beneficial, but with anything you'll just have to do your research.

OP can use report button, if quality of service isn't as good as advertised in service thread.
