I use duck duck go as my default search engine. I also use google, because everything and everyone is on google, talk about a monopoly.

I have copied this from an article I read that was posted on twitter. These are some of the points that resonate with me.

1 — Google tracks you. We don’t.
7 — We strive for a world where you have control over your personal information
10 — Google is simply too big, and too powerful.

All depends on where you live what you get in return etc.
In the US you are tracked in so many ways without getting anything in return that you may as well use Google, as you at least get a hunch of stuff in return for free(as you already paid with your data)

None of the others offer anywhere near the stuff Google does, so again boils down to do you want to pay in cash or data. There is no such thing as a free lunch and should be clear that you have to pay one way or another.
Should you live in a country where privacy is valued it is of course worth at least a consideration.

As for tracking, does it have any tangible impact on my day to day life? No.

So I don’t have time for duck duck go, as romantic as the SE sounds.

The whole point of Google's data gathering is to serve targeted ads. So if I let them gather my data, but keep ad-blockers on all my devices, they spend resources to keep my data and get no revenue in return.

As for matters that do require a level of privacy, it's always going to be safer to handle that yourself rather than relying on the generosity of others.

When Google was formed with suspected CIA investment money. There company purpose was stated as the development of artificial intelligence.

I don't like Google and try to use anything but. Start Page is an excellent search engine and zoho are a super mail service. That do everything Google do and more.

Conspiracy theories abound, however im more than sure that is the reality. I’m gonna check out start page and zoho.

Not now, but the data doesn't just wither away to dust with time - it can be kept forever. So, once something like "social credit score" eventually comes around your part of the world, then you may have some regrets Though I doubt it will be overtly named like that, since we have much more sophisticated marketing for such things in the West.

Goggle is a Data Mining Behemoth but we do have choices, personally I try to avoid using google services for anything too personally identifiable but for everything else it is really is the only option.
Duck Duck Go and others are great but they are still a way off from delivering results comparable to Google.
Your personal information is yours, it has a value and you need to decide how it can be used and who can use it, if you want to trade it for services then that is your choice.

Shouldn't worry about tracking, you are tracked in everything you do. Bet you use Facebook and don't think about that
