Hello fellow BHW members,

last week i started my online shop, set up everything, automated my email workflow, made everything work and put up my first ads.
I got like 300 likes on my shop fb page in a week but only 10 sales with a profit margin of 10-15$ each. (total profit of my sales are 120$).
The thing is that i have like 300$ in advertising costs (i had to test a lot of ad campaigns) plus 300$ in shopify app costs, but i do have many interactions, likes etc. on my posts. My question now is, what am i doing wrong? Is it normal to have such few sales but so much ad costs in the beginning? And what could i possibly do to boost my sales, since i don't have much experience with dropshipping or advertising. I was also wondering if dropshipping via aliexpress is even worth it, since there are amazon and wish, which most people prefer, especially when they don't know a website, like my website for example, that also has much higher shipping times and/or higher product costs.

I have been reading and researching a lot about dropshipping business and will start my own. What you wrote is actually inspiring. 10 sales in a week is way better than what most of the people who start on this business do. I've read about people losing not hundreds but thousands on poor targeting, bad looking shop and wrong niche.

If I will have 10 sales in the first week, I will know that I have done something right. Since I don't have the details about yours, my advice is that you invest some money (yeah, I know, more money?) into Instagram shoutouts. Also, try growing an instagram account for your business, run a product ad on Instagram and don't forget that you are on BHW, so there are many tips on how to grow your instagram.

Don't give up. You're on the right track!

Dude. You have $120 in sales, and $600 in expenses. It sounds like you found the right ad / product combo. You've just gotta scale it up now!

Please don't quit. Scale your ads budget (Duplicate the adset and change the budget of the new one to make sure the original doesn't mess up.

You're so close!

reinvest all profit in advertisement, split test your ads..if possible go track conversions aswell. Depending on your niche, you can make a funnel. First advertise for branding to your targeted niche, make them see your BRAND (not your product). Later re-target everyone who has seen your brand and create an offer ad. Now that they have seen you before, if your offer is good they are more likely to buy. Collect emails, mail your list with offers every few weeks, give them discount codes etc. But not straight away before their first pruchase has even arrived, that would be stupid.

Since you mention $300 in app cost, i assume you used more than 5 apps ?
How about did you use Oberlo / Dropified ? Or others ?

10 sales in one week? So inspiring. I think you found one of the best niches and the right products. You can also consider using Instagram apart from just FB. By the way, how did you manage to get 300 likes in one week? Is it organic traffic? Thank you

10 sales within a week is good. I start mine and get my first sale after 40days.

Yeah man good results. You gotta optimize your ads now. Cut the costs. Target only the responsive audience. Split test. Most of all dont give up now. Your already 10x further ahead than most IMers.

Is it best to sell on Amazon, Ebay or Shopify? I am about to start a dropshipping as well...

Aliexpress dropshipping is working great for me. I sell on a marketplace in a way that follows rules that most dropshippers are breaking, though. I won't reveal the marketplace, but it has built in traffic so I don't pay for any promotion at all and I'm at $1600 a month in just 3 months of doing this. That's in August, which is one of the slowest months on any marketplace, but especially the one I'm on. I expect to make at LEAST $5000 a month during the holidays, again with no paid promotion.

So, yes. If you find the right market, and you follow the rules so you don't get banned, you can make good money with dropshipping still.

Don't scale up. Optimize!

Just scaling up will result in something like $12,000 in sales and $60,000 in expenses :)

Yes it is normal, you shoud keep testing and go for better ads. Also try woocommerce its totally worth it and better. With shopify you only gonna lose money with apps etc.
Also aliexpress dropshipping is so worth it. You can sell a $1 item for $10
