Hey, weird thing happening. Suppose a folder has contents worth 50 GB. When I right click on the folder and check properties, it will show 20-22 GB. Then if I go inside the folder and select all the folders then it will show the correct 50 GB size but sometimes that won't be the case. Even if I select all the individual folders, it won't show the correct size. I have to go inside each subfolder and manually see the size of each file.

I did check "show hidden files and folders" but the still same thing.

What do you think is going on and will a fresh installation of windows solve this?

Thanks in advance!

Use disk clean up and see if you see those files. Did you lock some folder and then delete the software used for this.

Transfer Files to different machine, or location.

And see if issue persist. If so then it is an issue with config of that specific folder

It's happening in every drive including external hard drives.

Use something like Total Commander to manage your files, the built-in Win Explorer sucks ass regardless Win version.

Switch machine, or throw the file in a vm, could be that your the windows folder structure data is corrupted, maybe a bug. Just reimage windows

Can I ask what kind of files are you storing? images, videos, or ...?

Nah, it won't. Don't waste your time :D
Images, videos, text documents, and everything.

Sarcasm when you said a fresh installation wont fix? :D

Apparently it's related to the 1803 update and too long path length: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files/windows-file-explorer-not-showing-correct-folder/933ade81-55e1-4cd5-a4b1-614044fab64e
Ah dayum :(

Then, would by using Total Commander solve this stupid issue?

Just dont wanna format now coz have lots of things spread across the desktop and in the middle of working on a project too.

Any way to fix it?

Try removing that specific update, that might solve it. Total Commander should do the trick too.

Yup ? May be fresh os can solve the problem but please do ntfs partation using mini partation tool before flashing the os and may be problem will be solved ?

Note: Mini partation tool will automatically identify the maximum storage ; So, you just needed to download the mini partation tool and just do partation ? You can also get tutorial on youtube ?
