Can I target 2 countries with 1 site?

I have a .com eCommerce site that is targeting the US by setting my Google Console to US. I would like to also target Canada at the same time. Is there a way to do this without loosing any rankings I've built for the US?
I don't know if it helps but I do own the .ca domain as well and have just 301 redirected it to the .com as I don't want to build up an entirely different site from scratch.

Depends Im also on it I have a .com domain on the root directory is a script which tracks the browserlanguage of the user and forwards him to the language he is using in his browser. My google search looks than as followed domainname.com will appear in english, de.domainname.com will appear in german, en.domainname.com will appear in english as well.

de.domainname.com is targeted in the console for germany and en for uk but I cant tell you at the moment if it will be successfull just started with it. Something like this could probably help you.

it is great if you own the .ca, now you need your site to be geo-targeted, showing .ca and CAD prices for Canadian surfers (assuming you can charge in CAD, which you should for better conversions).

Even though I own the .ca I have a lot of work on the .com and would like to use that to target the Canadian market as well as the US. I could duplicate the site on the .ca but then I would have duplicate content issues that Google would penalize, would I not?

there is no penalty for a geo-targeted site, of course not; you have to use scripts that use geo-localization, so there is only 1 site, that behaves slightly differently in Canada versus non Canada; and you can show .ca for Canadians, .com for the rest of the world. This assumes the site is nearly the same Canada/non Canada; otherwise more tweaks are needed, but normally you do not need 2 sites, just 1 that is geo-targeted.

As this is only 2 locations both in English. With more than 2 and different languages, it will become complicated, but here I do not think it is too complicated.

I would suggest that you hire someone who can help you with this and see if there are other factors that can possibly affect the steps you're supposed to do.

You can do it like this: yoursite.com/ca and yoursite.com for us.
Then you can just build CA links to the page you want and do the same for the other pages.
