well it's working and really helps in ranking, you do need to use the same keywords in your tags and the main kw in your video title, to avoid the spammy look better to use it at the end of the description that is not shown by default

Long tails like that on videos work for me, I always do it for game hack niche stuff. I build backlinks to the videos also and include a few of the longtails from the description for each backlink. I then get video embeds and social signals followed by 1k HR reviews. I then let it sit to see how it ranks. (what works for me might not for you) its all about testing and tweaking

It's simpler to just write a two paragraph description about the upload, and pack it with the 7-8 leywords desired. That wouldn't stand out, and the paragraph could be reused elsewhere (for other videos, or on other parasites).

That method would probably work, but remember, Google owns YT, and they're really smart about these things. Adding KWs in that way will make it look spammy, so maybe you can just write the description in a short paragraph and insert the KWs as natural as possible.

Apparently not, Back in 2015 when I attempted to promote my YT channel. I did the same shit in many of my videos.
Fucked it up completely!! After that I never started a channel again

NO idea mate. YT is google's product and Google is in the business of making money. Whoever helps them make more is usually favored more.
I am not saying I did not do anything wrong, I must have but then they do not really specify the exact reason of suspension either.
I had 56 videos in my YT channel and about 42-45 of them had the keywords in the description area. I am still not sure what could be the other reason behind the suspension. I wasn't even monetizing them.
